The Board met with Police Chief, Paul Furdon, and Inspector Lloyd T. <br />Merit Medal Baylis for the presentation of the Police Merit Medal to the Inspector. <br />Insp. Baylis Chief Furdon made the presentation and stated that in the last twelve <br />years only three of these medals have been awarded. The Chief explained <br />that Inspector Baylis was not awarded the medal for one specific act of <br />heroism, but for a series of outstanding accomplishments. Mod <br />Chief Furdon presented the medal. to Inspector Baylis and the Board <br />extended its congratulations, Inspector Baylis thanked the Chief and the <br />Board and the police present retired from the meeting. <br />Sussman Dog The Board discussed the request of Mr. Martin Sussman for reconidera- <br />Reconsidera.- Lion of the decision made on December 9, 1980 that the dog be removed from <br />tion the legal boundaries of the Town of Lexington. <br />After discussion, the Board decided that the dog be allowed to return <br />to its owners on the condition that if there is a ny violation of the Leash <br />Law, the dog will be restrained by the Town of Lexington and the Town will <br />conduct a hearing while the dog is restrained. <br />The Sussman's thanked the Board for its consideration and they re- <br />tired from the meeting. <br />Lic . Lic , The Chairman removed from the table the request of the Howard John - <br />Howard son Company for an All Alcoholic Beverages License which was tabled on <br />Johnson's June 21 pending further information from Attorney Gaynor. <br />Attorney Gaynor informed the Board that there are 698 Howard Johnson <br />restaurants of which 591 hold liquor licenses. of the 591, theme are 178 <br />"free standing restaurants" (riot connected with motel or hotel accommoda- <br />tions). Mr. Gaynor informed the Board that it was gather difficult to <br />determine the total number of Howard Johnson restaurants holding liquor <br />
