- 2 - <br />r� <br />.r- <br />Board that the proposed bikeway plan called for a "right-of -way" that would <br />go through the bank since the Depot Square building spars the former rail- <br />road tracks. He state that if the bikeway were approved, he would request <br />that the land be deeded back to the bank., instead of being used for the <br />bikeway. <br />M r. Walton brought up the question of "stop" sins on the crossings, <br />He indicated that no information had been presented relative to how the <br />problem would be handled. <br />The Manager pointed out that there would be problems as with any other <br />project and stated that the Town has not committed itself to any expenditure <br />of funds at this point. <br />Mr. Busa and Mr. Polit felt that action on the proposal should be <br />postponed until a later date when more citizens who were not fully aware of <br />the proposal could be heard. <br />Mr. Politi made a motion that action be deferred until a later date <br />which was not seconded. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted -1, Mr. Busa voting <br />in the negative, that the Board approve the concept of the bikeway with the <br />Board later looking into the maintenance costs. <br />The Board met with four developers w h submitted proposals to the <br />Muzzey School Conversion Committee for conversion of the school. The hir- <br />ma.n explained that each would be given a ten - minute time frame in which to <br />present the proposal.. Thereafter, there would be a twenty - minute question <br />period by the Board who would them go into Executive Session for the pur- <br />pose of discussing the transfer of the real estate. The following proposals <br />were presented <br />Developer: The Codman Company, Inc. <br />Architect: Amsler Hageaah MacLean, Architects, Inc., <br />Landscape Architect: Matara Design <br />Construction and Permanent Financing: Winchester Savings Bank <br />Concept: Condominiums <br />Mr. .James M. Grossiman, senior Vice President, presented the proposal <br />which would convert the school into sixty-two market rate condominiums de- <br />signated as "Earls Crossing" with an additional unit for the superintendent. <br />The proposal would allow for the construction of a separate building for the <br />senior center. Small units were designed so that they could be sold at a <br />price that would make there affordable to a broader spectrum of the market <br />place. <br />M r. Charles Hagena.h, the architect, explained the concept to the <br />Board including landscaping and parking facilities. <br />Price range for the units would be from $60,000 to $150,000. Opera- <br />ting costs for the common area for landscaping, electricity, snow removal, <br />insurance, payroll etc. would be approximately $1,000 per year. There <br />would be eighty -one parking spaces for the sixty -two units and seven addi- <br />tional if the Town did not want a senior center. <br />Ir. Robert Nickerson, President and senior Leading officer of the Win- <br />chester Savings Bank stated that the bank has been involved with Codman on <br />similar project in Winchester an had a. high regard for C odman profes- <br />sionalism, design and construction. They are interested in supporting the <br />o max proposal. for Mu <br />
