r j , - <br />y <br />INTENT TO LAYOUT PU WAYS <br />'rhe Chairman opened a Public Hearing on the Selectmen's Intent to layout <br />nine subdivision streets for acceptance as public ways. <br />Frank Fields, Town Engineer, showed layouts of the streets, on which the <br />Planning Board had released surety and had recommended their acceptance. <br />Information on dimensions and existence and location of sidewalks on the <br />streets was liven on Philbrook Terrace; Solomon Pierce Road; Joseph Commee <br />Road; Lothrop Circles Butterfield Road; East Emerson Road; Jonas Stone Circle; <br />T i dd Circle; and No rt'Li Emerson Road. <br />The voted to layout the streets will be taken at the Selectmen's Meeting <br />=fn Jarluar_ ? 1990, <br />BROOKHAVEN AT LEXINGTON <br />Mr. Thomas Hubner, Executive Vice President of Brookhaven at Lexington, <br />met with the Board for presentation of a check in the amount of $402,000, <br />which had been agreed upon at the time of approval of the 1986 rezoning to <br />satisfy requirements for provision of affordable housing. <br />Mr. Eddison thanked Mr. Hubner for fulfilling this obligation even <br />earlier than had been required and congratulated him on the completion of the ■ow <br />successful project to the evident satisfaction of the residents. <br />Mr. Hubner introduced David Speltz, CEO, Symmes Hospital, which is <br />affiliated with Brookhaven. <br />Mr. Etdison extended the best wishes of the Board for the continued <br />operation of Symmes, noting the need for the facility in area communites. <br />" X I KATE I "��CREASES <br />Ir. � h i t e re ferred to request from the three licensed taxi companies in <br />Lexington for adj ustments in the taxi rate structure to increase them to the <br />level of rates in area towns. A survey had indicated that Lexington's rates <br />were significantly lower than those in Arlington, Belmont, Wakefield, Newton <br />and Burlington. <br />Ronald Bonney, Jr. of Arlex Taxi Company, and Barbara Ferri of A--1 Taxi <br />of Lexington, were present to urge the Board's approval of the rate increases. <br />In response to questions from the Board, Mr. Bonney said that the set <br />fee for trips 'to the airport would be increased by $3.00 and that under the <br />law, competitive forces are allowed to offer lower rates than the maximum <br />rates approved by the Board. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve an amendment <br />,o Section VI of the "Town of Lexington Rules and Regulations Governing <br />Hackney Carriages, Taxi -cabs, and other Public Vehicles for the Carrying of <br />'passengers for Hire" establishing maximum rates effective on January 25, 1990, <br />1 f01 lows: <br />V10 RATES OR FARES: METERS <br />1.00 for the first one eighth of a mile ■aw <br />$ .25 for each one eighth of a mile thereafter <br />$18.00 for each hour waiting time. <br />MINUTES <br />jpon Motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the minutes <br />of Selectmen's Meetings on December 11, 1989 and December 18, 1989. <br />
