Crain. <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept Section 20A of Chapter 32 of the <br /> General Laws. <br /> 8:13 P.M. <br /> (Ch. 32, Sec. 20A - INDEMNIFICATION OF MEMBERS OF RETIREMENT BOARDS <br /> FOR DAMAGES ARISING FROM OFFICIAL DUTIES.) <br /> Mr. Crain stated that the Board of Selectmen unanimously support <br /> this motion. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8 :14 P.M. <br /> Article 6. SCHOOL FOUNDATION <br /> The motion under Article 6 was presented by Patricia A. Swanson but <br /> read by the Moderator as follows: <br /> (As MOTION: That the Selectmen be and they hereby are authorized to <br /> adopted) petition the General Court for an act to permit the School Depart- <br /> ment to establish a revolving fund for receipts derived from the <br /> sale or licensing of materials and productions and from services <br /> in connection therewith. <br /> 8:14 P.M. <br /> William W. Welch, Jr., Precinct 2 Town Meeting Member, gave written <br /> notice that he would abstain from voting on Article 6. <br /> James C. Beck, School Committee Member, was recognized at the <br /> request of Patricia A. Swanson, also a School Committee Member, and <br /> he voiced the support of his committee in regards to the motion <br /> under Article 6. 8:18 P.M. <br /> William J. Dailey, Jr. stated that the Appropriation Committee <br /> recommended unfavorable action on this article, adding that all _ <br /> departments generate funds and he does not want to encourage other <br /> departments to have revolving funds. 8:20 P.M. <br /> Frank Sandy and Gerald L. Abegg voiced support while Renee Cochin <br /> spoke in opposition. 8:26 P.M. <br /> Main motion, as presented by Mrs. Swanson, declared adopted by <br /> voice vote. 8:26 P.M. <br /> Article 7. AUTHORIZE SPECIAL LEGISLATION TO <br /> ALLOW TAX LEVY TO GO TO 22% <br /> Margery M. Battin moved. to postpone Article 7 until. after Article <br /> 51. <br /> 8 :27 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Battin added that she felt it was premature to vote on <br /> Article 7 before they know what local aid distribution will be <br /> etc. It is believed that this information will be available in <br /> May. 8:30 P.M. <br /> Town Manager, Robert M. Hutchinson, Jr.', was recognized and he <br /> stated that when this,artipl is acted upon, he would bring an <br /> estimate of a five e r,p aa� <br /> ya�p an outline of major expenses and <br /> he will have a handout - at that time. 8:32 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Battin's motion to postpone Article 7 until after Article 51 <br /> was declared adopted unanimously. 8 :35 P.M. <br /> (See Pages 271 and 272) <br />
