2 <br /> (ADJOURNED SESSION, A.T.M. , CONT. - APRIL 10, 1996) <br /> "5.6 LIVING FACILITIES FOR SENIORS <br /> 5.6.1 Types and Characteristics of Living Facilities <br /> for Seniors: <br /> a. Assisted Living Residence: Assisted Living <br /> Residences are for frail elders who do not <br /> require 24 hour skilled nursing care. Assisted <br /> Living Residences provide only single or <br /> double Assisted Living Units. <br /> The operator of an Assisted Living Facility <br /> may also provide optional services on the <br /> site, including but not limited to: local <br /> transportation; barber/beauty services, <br /> .sundries for personal consumption and other <br /> amenities. <br /> b. Assisted Living Unit: One or more rooms in an <br /> Assisted Living Residence designed for and <br /> occupied by one or two individuals per bedroom <br /> as the private living quarters of such <br /> individuals. <br /> c. Congregate Living Facility: Each resident in <br /> a Congregate Living Facility has his/her own <br /> bedroom and may have a separate living room, <br /> kitchen, dining area, or bathroom, and may <br /> share dining, leisure, and other service <br /> facilities in common with other older persons, <br /> such as in a common dining facility. <br /> d. Continuing Care Retirement Community: <br /> Continuing Care Retirement Communities may <br /> include various types of living facilities for <br /> seniors within which residents can stay as <br /> their service and health care needs change. <br /> e. Independent Living Residence: In addition to <br /> separate dwelling units for elderly persons, <br /> an Independent Living Residence may include <br /> common areas and the provision of meals and <br /> social, psychological, and educational <br /> programs. <br /> f. Long-term Care Facility: Long Term Care <br /> Facilities provide assistance with Activities <br /> of Daily Living as defined by 651 CMR 12.02, <br /> as well as skilled nursing and medical care by <br /> a skilled nursing staff. " <br /> C. In Subparagraph 11.3.1 1) e. by deleting the <br /> existing line and by substituting the following: <br /> "Congregate Living Facility, <br /> Independent Living Residence .75 for each <br /> bedroom" <br /> D. In Subparagraph 11 .3. 1 1 ) f. by deleting the <br /> existing line and by substituting the following: <br /> "Assisted living residence, group care facility, <br /> long-term care facility .4 per living unit" <br /> E. In Subparagraph 9.2.10 EQUIVALENT DENSITY, <br /> RESIDENTIAL ACCOMMODATIONS NOT IN DWELLING UNITS, <br /> in the last line of the existing sentence by <br /> deleting the words "or congregate living facility" <br /> after the words "group care facility" and by <br /> substituting the following: <br /> ", congregate living facility, or assisted living <br /> residence" so that the sentence, as amended will <br /> read: "1 ,200 square feet of gross floor area in <br /> group quarters, a group care facility, congregate <br /> living facility, or assisted living residence" <br />
