ADJOURNED SESSION OF THE 1986 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> APRIL 14, 1986 <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. at <br /> 8 P.M. in Cary Memorial Hall and immediately recessed, subject to the call of <br /> the chair. The meeting reconvened at 8:02 P.M. <br /> There were 180 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> Invocation was offered by Rev. Stephen M. Healy of St. Brigid's Church. <br /> 8:03 P.M. <br /> i <br /> The Moderator called a formal recess for the following presentation. <br /> 8:03 P.M. <br /> Senator Richard A. Krause was recognized to present citations to the <br /> National Merit Scholarship Finalists from Lexington. Before making the <br /> presentations, Senator Krause said that Lexington should be proud of their <br /> students as they had the highest number of winners throughout the country <br /> from a public school. He added that no other school in Massachusetts can <br /> match Lexington. After presenting the citations from the State Senate to the <br /> students present, they were given a standing ovation. 8:12 P.M. <br /> Article 2. REPORT OF TOWN OFFICERS, BOARDS, COMMITTEES <br /> Paul W. Marshall, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, said that <br /> he was happy to see that the Appropriation Committee had the <br /> blackboard back in use and asked that the Town Manager, Robert M. <br /> Hutchinson, Jr. be recognized to explain the new budget spread <br /> sheet. At the conclusion of Mr. Hutchinson's explanation, Michael <br /> J. O'Sullivan, Chairman of the Appropriation Committee, explained <br /> the figures on the blackboard. 8:20 P.M. <br /> Article 35. BUILDING MAINTENANCE <br /> E <br /> Paul W. Marshall moved that Article 35 be tabled. <br /> Adopted by voice vote. 8:21 P.M. <br /> ( See Pages 63-71.) <br /> Article 36. RESCIND UNUSED BORROWING AUTHORIZATION <br /> Presented by William J. Dailey, Jr. <br /> MOTION: That the unused borrowing authorization voted under Article <br /> 40 of the warrant for the 1975 Annual Town Meeting is hereby <br /> rescinded. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8 :23 P.M. <br /> Article 37. JET FUEL STATUTE <br /> Presented by William J. Dailey, Jr. <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept Chapter 64J of the General Laws. <br /> 8 <br /> ...:. - 1 .23 P.M. <br /> (Chapter 64J - TAXATION OF FUELS USED IN THE PROPULSION OF AIRCRAFT) <br /> Jacquelyn R. Smith gave written notice that she would abstain from <br /> voting on Article 37. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:25 P.M. <br />
