ADJ <br /> SESSION OF THE 19$6 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> APRIL 7 1986 <br /> The meeting was called to order in Cary Memorial Hall by the Moderator, <br /> Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. at 8 P.M. and immediately recessed, subject to the call of <br /> the Chair. The meeting was again called to order at 8:05 P.M. <br /> There 180 Town Meeting Members present.. <br /> Invocation was offered by Rev. Martin U. McCabe, Pastor of the Sacred Heart <br /> Church. Before he offered the prayer, he asked permission to speak to the meeting. <br /> He said that he is retiring in June, 1986 and spoke of his love of the town and <br /> thanked the Town Meeting Members for their part in keeping the town as it is. <br /> He was given a standing ovation by the meeting for his contributions to the <br /> town. 8:08 P.M. <br /> The Moderator introduced a group of Nieman Fellows from all over the world <br /> who are presently at Harvard and were accompanied by Howard Simonds, Harvard <br /> Curator. 8 :08 P.M. <br /> Article 2. REPORTS OF TOWN OFFICERS, BOARDS, COMMITTEES <br /> Paul W. Marshall, Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, gave a brief <br /> outline of the upcoming schedule of articles. The first item would <br /> be to immediately remove the motion to reconsider Article 8 from the <br /> table and theni to, hopefully, defeat the motion to reconsider Article <br /> 8. Article 25 would be next and then down through the major financial <br /> articles - Articles 26, 27 & 28. As each of these articles is adopted, <br /> if adopted, a notice of reconsideration will be served in order that <br /> the articles will be available for change, if necessary, through the <br /> end of the meeting. Article 29, Pine Meadows, will be tabled to keep <br /> the town's options open throughout the meeting. 8:10 P.M. <br /> i <br /> Paul W. Marshall moved to remove the motion to reconsider Article 8 from the <br /> table. This motion was adopted by voice vote. 8:12 P.M. <br /> (See Page 3) <br /> Paul W. Marshall speaks on the motion to reconsider Article 8. He asks for <br /> defeat of this motion and the motion to reconsider Article 8 was declared lost by <br /> voice vote. 8:13 P.M. <br /> Article 25. REPLACE OIL TANKS <br /> Presented by Jacquelyn R. Smith. <br /> MOTION: That the sum of $15,000 be appropriated to replace town <br /> owned oil storage tanks, and that such amount be raised in the tax <br /> levy. 8:13 P.M. <br /> In response to questions raised by Stephen W. Miller, Walter Tonaszuck, <br /> Director of Public Works, said that air is pumped into the tank and, <br /> if there is leakage, the air will escape. He added that there aren't <br /> any regulations relative to inspection of private tanks. <br /> 8:18 P.M. <br /> i - <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:18 P.M. <br /> Article 2. REPORTS OF TOWN OFFICERS, BOARDS, COMMITTEES <br /> Michael J. O'Sullivan moved that the Supplemental Report of the <br /> Appropriation Committee be accepted and placed on file. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 8:22 P.M. <br />
