Marshall spoke for the Board of Selectmen and urged defeat of this <br /> motion. 8:24 P.M. <br /> After general discussion, Mr. O'Sullivan's motion to postpone Article 26 until <br /> after Article 32 has been taken up was declared lost by voice vote. 8:28 P.M. <br /> Article 26. TOWNWIDE TOPOGRAPHY <br /> f <br /> Presented by Judith J. Uhrig. <br /> (As MOTION: That the sum of $130,000 be appropriated for aerial photo - <br /> adopted) grammetric services to 'update the townwide topography maps, and that <br /> such amount be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 8:28 P.M. <br /> Mrs. Uhrig explained that this article was inserted in the warrant <br /> at the request of both the Planning Board and the Conservation <br /> Commission, 8:30 P.M. <br /> Charles Wyman, Conservation Administrator, Jennie Rawski, Assistant <br /> Planner, and Robert A. Bowyer, Planning Director all spoke of the <br /> needs of these maps for their and other departments of the town. <br /> Changes since 1971 are not on the current maps. 8:47 P.M. <br /> Joyce A. Miller, Chairman of the Conservation Commission, said that <br /> the Commission strongly supports this article. 8:48 P.M. <br /> Eric T. Clarke, as a past Chairman of the Planning Board, urged <br /> support but asked if the new maps. would contain property lines. <br /> 8:50 P.M. <br /> Mr. Bowyer answered that the camera cannot pick up property lines ! { <br /> but that the maps may be super - imposed but this is not included in <br /> the $130,000. Mr. Clarke added that the maps were most valuable. <br /> 8:52 P.M. <br /> William J. Dailey, Jr. voiced opposition for the majority of the <br /> Board of Selectmen. Mr. Dailey said that the towns of Wellesley, <br /> Belmont and Lincoln have not spent money on topography maps and <br /> the Selectmen feel that this article could be deferred for a year <br /> or more. 8:55 P.M. <br /> Robert A. Bowyer said that Waltham and Burlington do have these <br /> maps. 8:57 P.M. <br /> Jacquelyn. R. Smith, spoke for John C. Eddison, the minority members <br /> of the Board of Selectmen, supporting this article. As a past <br /> Chairman of the Planning Board, Mrs. Smith said that the town needs <br /> updated equipment in order to operate and these maps are the equip - <br /> ment used by many departments. 8:59 P.M. <br /> Sheldon A. Spector voiced the support of a majority of the members <br /> of the Capital Expenditures Committee. Iris G. Wheaton, past <br /> Chairman of the Planning Board, said that the maps were invaluable <br /> and urged support. 9:03 P.M. <br /> Michael J.'O'Sullivan said that the Appropriation Committee <br /> recommended favorable action and did so because of the cost <br /> effectiveness. 9 :05 P.M. <br /> After general discussion, Brian Michael Adley moved the previous <br /> question, which was declared adopted by voice vote. 9:12 P.M. <br /> Main motion, as presented by Judith J. Uhrig, adopted by voice vote. <br /> 9:12 P.M. <br /> Paul W. Marshall served notice of reconsideration of Article 26. 9:13 P.M. <br />
