Dailey, Jr. <br /> MOTION: That the sum of $200,000 be appropriated for the purchase <br /> by or with the approval of the Selectmen of equipment for the Depart- <br /> ment of Public Works, and that such amount be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 9:53 P.M. <br /> Mr. Dailey listed the following pieces of equipment to be purchased: <br /> 3 sedans; 1 pickup truck; 1 rubber -tired sidewalk tractor; 1 street <br /> sweeper; 2 mowers; 2 sander bodies; 1 stump cutter; 1 brush chipper. <br /> 9 :55 P.M. <br /> Michael J. O'Sullivan said that the Appropriation Committee <br /> recommended favorable action. 9 :56 P.M. <br /> Adopted unanimously. 9:56 P.M. <br /> Article 20. AUTHORIZATION TO USE CHAPTER 90 FUNDS FOR <br /> STREET IMPROVEMENTS <br /> Presented by John C. Eddison. <br /> MOTION: That the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be <br /> authorized to issue Highway Reimbursement Notes of the Town under <br /> G.L. c. 44, sec. 6, as amended, in anticipation of reimbursement <br /> by the Commonwealth for highway reconstruction and improvements <br /> under the authority of Chapter 90 of the General Laws as .funded by <br /> Chapter 140 of the Acts of 1985, and that notes issued for a shorter <br /> period than two years may be refunded by the issue of new notes <br /> maturing within two years from the date of the original obligation; <br /> that the Selectmen are authorized to accept highway funds from all <br /> sources; that, in addition, the sum of $700,000 be appropriated for <br /> highway improvements, and that such amount be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 9:57 P.M. <br /> Mr. Eddison explained that the town is behind on the street re- <br /> surfacing program. They should be doing six miles of road each <br /> year but they have only been doing about three miles per year. <br /> 9:58 P.M. <br /> Many questions were answered by Director of Public Works, Walter J. <br /> Tonaszuck. <br /> Adopted by voice vote. 10:06 P.M. <br />
