She said she could <br /> not approve the workshop as it was not written. After a discussion a vote was <br /> called. (Wadsworth, Rotberg, Swanson, NO, Brown, Berchtol, YES) <br /> English - (Rotberg, Berchtold, Swanson, NO, Brown, Wadsworth YES) <br /> (3-2 against) <br /> Math - 7-9 - Mr. Schutt was present to answer questions about this workshop. <br /> (Wadsworth, Brown, Rotberg, YES, Berchtold, Swanson NO) (3-2 in favor) <br /> Special Needs - (Swanson, Brown, Berchtold YES, Rotberg, Wadsworth NO) <br /> (3-2 in favor) <br /> Science (Brown, Wadsworth, Swanson, Berchtold NO, Rotberg YES) (4-1 against) <br /> Math 1-6 (Unanimous) <br /> Language Arts - (Rotberg, Berchtold, Swanson, Wadsworth NO, Brown YES) <br /> (4-1 against) <br /> Dr. Fobert asked the committee to give the reasons for voting down the <br /> Language Arts and. Science Workshops. Mrs. Swanson said. that Language Arts <br /> materials are adequate at present adding that coordination rather than revision <br /> may be 'needed. Mrs. Berchtold voted against the Science Workshop because it <br /> was a comprehensive program which required a "whole new approach". She was not <br /> sure that it should be adopted. Mr. Brown preferred to see improvements in the <br /> English and Math progrrams rather than in Science. <br /> • <br /> Mom. Rotberg made a MOTION, which was seconded by I'Ls. Berchtold, to <br /> approve Summer workshops listed on Page 161A as follows: <br /> Mathematics - Grades 7-9 3 staff <br /> Special Needs and Reading 1 1/2 staff <br /> Mathematics - Grades 1-6 5 staff <br /> Salary for 9 1/2 staff is $1200 each for a total of $11,400. <br /> A vote was called - (Rotberg, Berchtold, Swanson, Brown, YES, Wadsworth <br /> ABSTAIN) <br />
