1 <br />11 <br />PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />September 10, 1973 <br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. <br />by the chairman Dr. Clarke with members Graham, L. Brown, Costello, <br />planning director Briggs, secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also in attendance <br />were Manfred Friedman, Conservation Commission, Frank Sandy, CLC, John <br />Frey, DAC, and Cheryl Waixel, Lexington Minute -Man. <br />Mr. Frederick Johnson, Johnson Bros., Inc. (B/A hearing on Sept.25) JOHNSON BROS.INC <br />was present by invitation of the Planning Board to present plans for B/A 9/25 <br />his proposal to construct additional greenhouses on his East St. <br />property. Material and type of construction were explained and pic- <br />tured in a brochure, and a layout plan was displayed. Mr. JOhnson <br />expressed willingness to erect screening consisting of plantings and/or <br />fencing, for the benefit of abuttors. Drainage needs and additional <br />runoff resultant from the proposed consturction were discussed. <br />Ouestions from the Board and general comments from several residents <br />who oppose the proposal, followed. Mr. Michael Weinmayr, 49 East St. <br />(abuttor) displayed plans prepared by him showing existing and pro- <br />posed construction and voiced objection to additional density and <br />plastic building material to be used if Mr. JOhnson's petition is <br />granted. He showed pictures of Johnson buildings of similar type in <br />Woburn, and several of greenhouses in a state of disrepair or with <br />unsightly surroundings. Alternate layout designs, prepared by <br />Mr. Weinmayr, were examined. Mr. Johnson was asked by the Board about <br />provisions for access and for employee parking spaces. Discussion con- <br />cerning Planning Board recommendations to the Board of Appeals on the <br />petition will continue at the next meeting. <br />Mr. Roger Corbin, Boston Survey Consultants, and Messrs. Conley & MASS. R & W <br />Callahan, Mass. R & W, met with the Board by appointment for infor- B/A F & D <br />mal presentation of plans for construction of a 1 -story commercial <br />building on Westview Ave. Plan showing existing elevations at the <br />site was shown. Proposed building elevation, drainage and parking <br />provisions were explained by Mr. Corbin. Petition to the B/A will be <br />made in the near future, and the proponents requested comment on any <br />plan revisions needed to conform with Planning Board requirements. <br />The minutes of Planning Board meeting of August 27, 1973, were MINUTES 8/27/73 <br />approved as written. <br />Mr. Briggs reported that bids are now being received for data pro- ASSESSORS DATA <br />cessing of all information in the Assessors office. The Planning PROCESSING <br />Board will be asked for suggestions as to types of helpful infor- <br />mation before the programing is completed. <br />A letter to the Planning Baord from Mr. Francis Caro, dated Sept.3, CARO DRIVEWAY <br />1973, regarding a hazardous condition at his relocated driveway due IDYLWILDE SUBD. <br />to construction of Idylwilde Rd., was reviewed. The planning director <br />was asked to research the plans for Idylwilde Farms subdivision as <br />to conformance by the developer with approved road plans and relation- <br />ship of road elevation to the Caro property, for report to the Board on 9/17. <br />
