1 11 PLANNING BOARD MEETING September 10, 1973 The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by the chairman Dr. Clarke with members Graham, L. Brown, Costello, planning director Briggs, secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also in attendance were Manfred Friedman, Conservation Commission, Frank Sandy, CLC, John Frey, DAC, and Cheryl Waixel, Lexington Minute -Man. Mr. Frederick Johnson, Johnson Bros., Inc. (B/A hearing on Sept.25) JOHNSON BROS.INC was present by invitation of the Planning Board to present plans for B/A 9/25 his proposal to construct additional greenhouses on his East St. property. Material and type of construction were explained and pic- tured in a brochure, and a layout plan was displayed. Mr. JOhnson expressed willingness to erect screening consisting of plantings and/or fencing, for the benefit of abuttors. Drainage needs and additional runoff resultant from the proposed consturction were discussed. Ouestions from the Board and general comments from several residents who oppose the proposal, followed. Mr. Michael Weinmayr, 49 East St. (abuttor) displayed plans prepared by him showing existing and pro- posed construction and voiced objection to additional density and plastic building material to be used if Mr. JOhnson's petition is granted. He showed pictures of Johnson buildings of similar type in Woburn, and several of greenhouses in a state of disrepair or with unsightly surroundings. Alternate layout designs, prepared by Mr. Weinmayr, were examined. Mr. Johnson was asked by the Board about provisions for access and for employee parking spaces. Discussion con- cerning Planning Board recommendations to the Board of Appeals on the petition will continue at the next meeting. Mr. Roger Corbin, Boston Survey Consultants, and Messrs. Conley & MASS. R & W Callahan, Mass. R & W, met with the Board by appointment for infor- B/A F & D mal presentation of plans for construction of a 1 -story commercial building on Westview Ave. Plan showing existing elevations at the site was shown. Proposed building elevation, drainage and parking provisions were explained by Mr. Corbin. Petition to the B/A will be made in the near future, and the proponents requested comment on any plan revisions needed to conform with Planning Board requirements. The minutes of Planning Board meeting of August 27, 1973, were MINUTES 8/27/73 approved as written. Mr. Briggs reported that bids are now being received for data pro- ASSESSORS DATA cessing of all information in the Assessors office. The Planning PROCESSING Board will be asked for suggestions as to types of helpful infor- mation before the programing is completed. A letter to the Planning Baord from Mr. Francis Caro, dated Sept.3, CARO DRIVEWAY 1973, regarding a hazardous condition at his relocated driveway due IDYLWILDE SUBD. to construction of Idylwilde Rd., was reviewed. The planning director was asked to research the plans for Idylwilde Farms subdivision as to conformance by the developer with approved road plans and relation- ship of road elevation to the Caro property, for report to the Board on 9/17.
