n <br />C <br />u' <br />PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />December 27, 1972 <br />The meeting of the Lexington Planning Board was called to order at <br />7:30 p.m. by the chairman, Mrs. Brown with members Graham, Costello, Clarke <br />and Lund, planning director Zaleski and secretary Mrs. Snow present. Also <br />In attendance were Mr. & Mrs. Melvin Holland and Mr. Frank Visalli of the <br />Minute Man Hlds. Assoc. <br />The minutes of the Planning Board meeting of December 20, 1971, were approved <br />as amended. MINUTES 12/20 <br />A draft of a letter to the Board of Selectmen from the Planning Board re- <br />garding Mr. Rob't Lyon's suggestion to expand the Historic District was HISTORIC DIST. <br />approved as amended. EXPANSION,LYON <br />The revised draft of the Planning Board explanatory letter to the Board BD. OF APPEALS <br />of Appeals concerning the proposal of the Honeywell Radiation Center HONEYWELL <br />was approved as amended. <br />Discussion was resumed regarding the proposed playfield in the Concord CONCORD AVE. <br />Ave. area. Two locations on the Corazzini property were considered. RECREATION <br />Mr. Holland reported on his telephone conversations with Mr. Fred Coraz- <br />zini and Mr. Charles Gallagher, Chairman of the Recreation Committee, <br />regarding possible acquisition of a 2 acre (or less) site on Corazzini <br />land for a neighborhood playground for informal play, and dependent upon <br />willingness of the Corazzini brothers to sell, expressed Min.Man Hlds. <br />Assoc. support of a Planning Board sponsored Article to acquire this <br />land. Preliminary estimates of land cost, including rough grading, were <br />given by the planning director. Further exploration as to the suitability <br />and availability of an additional parcel of land owned by Macdonald, <br />abuttor of Corazzini, will be made by Mr. Holland. The members gener- <br />ally agreed that, following a meeting of the Planning Board to which Messrs. <br />Corazzini would be invited for discussion, and after information regarding the <br />Macdonald land is received by the Board, two separate Articles would be <br />drafted to be sponsored by the Planning Board proposing acquisition of <br />land for a junior neighborhood playground in the Concord Ave. area; one <br />proposing a portion of Corazzini land and one, the rear portion of <br />Macdonald land. <br />The petition of Harrison to the Board of Appeals to be heard on Jan -4. <br />1972, for a variance to allow operation of a retail business at f72 <br />Waltham St. in RS district was reviewed. Following a review of comments <br />of the Board to Mr. & Mrs. Harrison at a previous Planning Board meeting <br />regarding this proposal and a reference to Mr. Zaleski's memorandum of <br />12.20.71 on the subject, the contents of a letter to be written to the <br />Board of Appeals from the Planning Board, with recommendations and ex- <br />pressing general agreement of the majority of the Board was discussed. <br />The letter will be drafted by the planning director for consideration at <br />next week's meeting. <br />Mr. Costello was recorded as opposed to the granting of the Harrison <br />pd1tion. <br />BD.
