No objections were presented. <br />Rowley Case <br />Mr* Stevens reported that he was endeavoring to find out more about <br />the recent Superior Court case involving the question of whether'a road entire- <br />ly within the confines of a private estate was a way within the meaning of the <br />subdivision control law. At the present time he does not se8 how any data' <br />which might be furnished by the Lexington Planning Board for consideration in <br />connection with the appeal of the Rowley case could.be u§ed. <br />Cahill Land - East St. <br />Mr. Shaw, representing Fred Joyce, Designer, inquired about drainage <br />plans for the East St. project. Mr..Burns made the report attached hereto and <br />Mr. Shaw was given permission to make -a copy thereof. <br />Battle Breen Village <br />Mrs. Ross filed preliminary plan dated July 101, 1954 with application <br />on Form Be <br />Mr, Davis <br />Mr. Davis appeared as an applicant for the Lexington Planning Board <br />position of Planning Dirdetor. He stated that he was now a private practi- <br />tioner in city plannibg with 30 years planning experience; that he bad a <br />degree in landscape architectural planning from the University of Illinois and <br />an MCP from Harvard; that he had worked with Arthur Comey, Philip Nichols, and <br />other top men in the planning field. He proposed that he be employed on a <br />part-time basis, that is, four days and one evening per week. Proposed <br />salary for this work would be at the rate of $25 per day and $20 per evening, <br />making a total of $120 per week. This would be exclusive of any charges for <br />any consultant services. Mr. Davis was informed that the Board had already <br />employed MrAl Benjaiai as a planning consultant to work with the Planning <br />Director. .Yr, Davis, in view of his being planning consultant, also inquired <br />as to what the relations would be between the pikining director and the con- <br />sultant and was informed that in his case, if employed, they would be expected <br />to work together, whereas if a person with less experience was employed, the <br />employee would be under the supervision of the consultant. Mr. Davis was re- <br />quested to submit a statement of his qualifications to the Board. <br />Applications for Employment <br />Letters were received from Mr. Hayward and Mr. Snow requesting applica- <br />tions be -sent to them. . <br />A letter was received fromn Mr. Bryant of Fairfield, Ct, notifying the <br />Board that he did not desire to seek the position_as Planning Director. <br />
