He said she is doing restaurant inspections and concentrating on whether <br />or not the important signs are posted. The "no smoking" sign, which means <br />no smoking in the food preparation area, hairnets sign and washing hands <br />after using toilet facilities before going back to handle food. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board he is going to put on another food handlers course <br />and have Sandy run it. <br />He also told the Board that Sandy had changed her hours. She use to come <br />in 5 days for 4 hours a day but now she comes in three days - two full days <br />and part of a third. <br />Dr. Cosgrove asked if Sandy would like to work full time. <br />Mr. Smith said "yes" she would. He said she enjoys her work and is very good <br />at inspections. He hopes to find her a job somewhere in this field. <br />He said he is having her do different kind of inspections. She has been doing <br />some housing inspections. He is having her spend next Wednesday in Framingham <br />with a health officer there to see some real housing problems. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that we had a very successful month with clinics. CLINICS <br />The Rabies Clinic went very smoothly. The nurse from the Visiting Nurses came <br />and helped fill syringes. <br />The nurses also attended the Glaucoma Clinic. They set up a small section and <br />read blood pressures of any resident that wished to have it taken. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that we are also taking appointments for the Breast <br />Screening Clinic to be held at Symmes Hospital on June 10, 1980. <br />Mr. Smith reported to the Board he is going to put on a campaign to "Shake the <br />Habit". This will be in regards to the use of salt. Mr. Smith said he has <br />booklets in the office that people are welcome to come in and pick up. <br />Mr. Smith also plans to do a promotion campaign on x-rays, the need to have <br />them and the over-exposure to them. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that we are going to eventually have to have a full <br />time assistant or a permanent part time assistant. He said there is plenty <br />of work here to do but we need help to see that it is carried out. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that the M.D.C. is going around checking with plants M.D.C. <br />in the area to see what they are putting into the sanitary sewer systems. <br />The Board discussed the hazardous waste dumping into the sanitary sewer system. <br />Kennicott Copper uses chemicals, Raytheon's new research building will be using <br />chemicals. There are many companies that use them if only in the photography <br />field, for developing. <br />Dr. Cosgrove asked where the new town pick-up of trash by B.F.I. was being <br />taken. <br />Mr. Smith said most of it will be going to Plainfield. He said the company <br />has the contract for three years. He said the next time the contract comes <br />up the cost could be staggering for the Town. <br />TOWN -WIDE <br />PICK UP <br />
