DISCOVERY Mr. Smith reported that Discovery Day in Lexington was very successful and <br />DAY the Chamber of Commerce will be having another day next year and wants to <br />1980 expand it more. <br />Mr. Sacco, President of the Chamber of Commerce, sent a letter thanking Mr. <br />Smith for all of his help and for his services on Discovery Day. <br />MOSQUITO The Board discussed what was happening with the mosquito control and the <br />CONTROL Pest Control Committee. <br />Mr. Smith said nothing was really new. There will not be any spraying or <br />adulticing. <br />Mr. Smith said the report that the committee came up with says absolutely <br />nothing. <br />Mr. Lambie asked if they were pushing drainage. <br />Mr. Smith answered "yes". <br />MOSQUITO He told the Board that the Pest Control Committee wants a survey done. Mr. <br />CONTROL Smith said that having another survey of the town would be a waste. He said <br />there is plenty of material around from past surveys that is available <br />for study. <br />Dr. Cosgrove said they went through this 30 years ago. People were being <br />bitten by mosquitoes and they put the pressure on the Board of Selectmen, <br />so the spraying was introduced for the Town and it was successful. <br />Mr. Lambie feels the Board of Health should take a stand. He said he had <br />talked to Dr. Casmire who had studied pesticides and had found them to be <br />fairly safe. <br />Mr. Smith said he has made it known to the Board of Selectmen that the Board <br />of Health is for mosquito control. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that the survey with doctors that John Andrews did, <br />he would not let Paul Mazerall or himself read. Mr. Andrews wrote up the <br />report himself. <br />After further discussion, Mr. Smith told the Board that mosquito Control <br />was on the agenda for the June 9th Board of Selectmen Meeting. <br />ANIMAL PERMITThe Board met with Mr. Gerhard Rowe at 8:00 p.m. in regard to an animal permit <br />GERHARD ROWE for 69 Blossomcrest Road. <br />Mr. Rowe had applied for renewal of an animal permit that had been in his <br />mother's name. She had passed away during the past year and he would like <br />to renew it as executor and trustee of the estate. <br />The Board told Mr. Rowe to have his attorney write a letter stating that <br />he was executor of the estate and they would renew the permit for this year. <br />Mr. Rowe agreed to do so. He thanked the Board and retired. <br />SANDRA Mr. Smith told the Board that Sandra Gabriel, his new Health Intern, is working <br />GABRIEL out quite well. She is doing an excellent job and he can not speak highly <br />enough about her. <br />
