ARTICLE 10 (c) <br /> Project: Archives and Records Management/Records <br /> Conservation & Preservation <br /> CPA Category: Historic Resources <br /> Amount Requested: $20,000 <br /> Amount Recommended: $20,000 <br /> CPC Vote: (9-0) <br /> Project Description: <br /> This FYI request for CPA funds is for the conservation and preservation of historic municipal <br /> documents and records. The current request will fund conservation and preservation of older <br /> documents and make them available on the Town's digital archives. Documents to be conserved <br /> under this funding request include the remaining Old Town Papers, dating from 1722 to 1923. <br /> As an incidental part of the project, documents will also be digitized for long-term safe-keeping <br /> and access. <br /> Project Goals and Objectives: <br /> • Preserve older documents and make them available on the Town's digital archives; and <br /> • Ensure retention and accessibility for current and future access. <br /> Project Benefit: <br /> Significant progress has been made in preserving Lexington's historic documents. There is a <br /> continuing need to preserve records from the 1800s and early 1900s and to make them more <br /> accessible. The preservation and conservation of permanent records for archiving creates the <br /> basis for documenting Lexington's history for the future. <br /> Funding Request: <br /> The FYI request is $20,000. <br /> 11 <br />
