SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />JANUARY 10, 1979 <br />A meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Selectmen's <br />Meeting Room, Town Office Building, on Wednesday, January 10, 1979, <br />at 7:30 p.m. Chairman Battin, Mr. Buse, Mrs. Miley, Mr. Kent and <br />Mr. Crain; Mr. Hutchinson, Town Manager; Mrs. Banks, Assistant to <br />the Town Manager; Mrs. McCurdy, Executive Clerk, were present. <br />The Board discussed the Governor's capping proposal and agreed <br />to talk with our legislators at the joint meeting scheduled for <br />January 16 and to urge Senator Rotondi and Representative Cole to <br />be as persuasive as possible during deliberations in the legislature <br />in support of the best interests of Lexington. <br />Mr. Hutchinson and Mr. Coscia updated the Board on the need <br />for repairs to the remaining 1300 bleacher seats at the High School <br />field. The Appropriation Committee had not approved the previous <br />request for a $15,000 transfer from E & D. <br />Later on, the Appropriation Committee came into the meeting <br />and the Board pointed out the necessity of affirmative action due <br />to insufficient seating capacity for the upcoming graduation cere- <br />monies. The Appropriation Committee would not commit itself and <br />it was left that reconsideration would be given to the request. <br />The Board reviewed a list of questions generated by the Ap- FY 80 <br />propriation Committee on budget accounts for the Selectmen, Manager, Budgets <br />Fire, Police, D.P.W., etc. and Mr. Hutchinson is to prepare answers <br />for the committee. <br />Gov.'s <br />Cap Prop. <br />Bleachers <br />Members of the Appropriation Committee and the Capital Expenditures <br />Committee came into the meeting for a preliminary review of the budgets. <br />After discussion, Mr. White said that the Appropriation Committee is not <br />necessarily saying we don't agree with the budgets submitted but we would <br />like to be aware of the rationale and justification of questionable items. <br />Mr. Hutchinson agreed to submit an information sheet for joint dis- <br />cussion at the next meeting. <br />Upon moi'ion duly made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn at <br />10:45 p.m. <br />A true record, Attest: <br />;01). 41)4 4:10.0,fre <br />E ecutive Clerk, Selectmen <br />
