161 <br />BOARD OF APPEALS HEARING <br />George A. Mahoney <br />A meeting of the Board of Appeals was held in the Selectmen's <br />Room, Town Office Building, Lexington, Mass. on November 12, 1957. <br />Chairman Nickerson, Messrs. Lynah, Ballard, Ripley and Redman were <br />present. The Clerk was also present. <br />At 9:03 p.m. hearing was declared open upon the petition of <br />George A. Mahoney for permission, under section 5(a)7.a. of the Lex- <br />ington Zoning By-law, to operate a trucking and disposal business and <br />to house two trucks at 927 Mass. Ave., Lexington, which is in an R 2 <br />district. <br />Notice of the hearing was read by Mr. Nickerson. Notices of <br />this hearing had been mailed to the owners of all property deemed by the <br />Board to be affected thereby as they appear on the most recent local tax <br />list.= <br />Mr. Nickerson referred both to the plot plan which had been sub- <br />mitted and to a block plan showing lots in the vicinity of that in ques- <br />tion. <br />Mr. Nickerson asked if this petition was for not more than two <br />trucks. <br />Mr. Mahoney said that it was for two trucks. <br />Mr. Nickerson said that there were four trucks parked in the yar on <br />Sunday. <br />Mr. Mahoney answered that they were doing a gratis job for the <br />church that day. <br />Mr. Nickerson asked why when your previous petition was denied did <br />you build a garage and apply again. <br />Mr. Mahoney stated that they had cleaned up the objectionable things <br />around the yard and its appearance had been improved. <br />Mr. Nickerson asked about all the old parts of trucks and equipment <br />out in the back. <br />Mr. Mahoney replied that those parts were useful in case some of <br />their machinery broke down. Those parts could be used as replacements. <br />Mr. Nickerson asked how Mr. Mahoney's business was different now than <br />when previous petition was denied. <br />Mr. Mahoney answered that the business was run by two wounded war <br />veterans and his son Joe. It is supporting three families and it is a help <br />to the townspeople. <br />
