Lindstrom ' Building Inspector Lexington, Massachusetts Dear Mr. Lindstrom Your letter of March third in connection with the request of Mr. Harvey Newgent for permission to use Steeltex on houses which he pro- posed to erect on Wood Street, Lexington, was considered by the Board of Appeals at its meeting of March third. Under Article M, Section 1, the Board of Appeals, at this meeting, voted to give permission to Mr. Harvey Newgent to use Steel- tex on the proposed houses on Wood Street, and further voted that the use of Steeltex on these houses may be stopped by the Building In- spector if, in his judgment, the quality of the workmanship is not satisfactory. Lindstrom which read as follows: February 28, 19$0 Board of Appeals Lexington, Massachusetts Gentlemen: I waold appreciate very,much the privilege of granting permis- sion for the use of the Van Packer Chimney in a modernistic home being built for Mr. Benjamin Thompson, located at 40 Moon Hill Road, due to the lack of space for an ordinary chimney. I submit herewith the necessary information from the manufacturer and I consider it one of the best substitutes on the market today. The Van Packer chimney has been approved by the Underwriters' Laboratory for use with all fuels and carries its label. It has an in- sulating value equivalent to a 24" brick wall, and the inner lining con- sists of high refractory fire clay tested to 2000 degrees and is sealed leakproof and gas tight. This chimney comes in two -foot sections and each joint is banded for double seal and permanent alignment. Wood may be placed hard against it without fear of any fire hazard.
