4k <br />BOARD OD APPEALS MEETING <br />I <br />May 10,• 1946 <br />A meeting of the Board of Appeals_w4s held in the Selectmen's <br />Room, Town Office Building on Friday evening, May 10, 1946 at 8:00 <br />p.m. Chairman Bowker, Messrs. Brown, Locke,Redman and Associate <br />Member Ballard were present. The Clerk was also present. <br />At 8:00 p.m. hearing was declared open upon the application of <br />Tialter Greymont for the Minute Man Foods, Inc. for permission to <br />construct a store and locker building at the corner of Lincoln Street <br />and Marrett Road. <br />Mr. Kiernan J. Lowr7.. president of the organization, Mr. Gosselin, <br />treasurer and four other persons were present at the hearing. <br />Notice of the hearing was read by Mr. Redman. <br />Mr, Walter Greymont said that they desired to build a locker <br />building pertaining to frozen foods and also have a store for selling <br />frozen foods. He said that he had applied for a building permit and <br />had been refused. <br />The Chairman asked if Mr. Greymont owned the property and he <br />said that he was an agent for Mr. Gosselin and ttr. Lowry. <br />Mr. Greymont presented a picture of the proposed building and <br />also a plan dated April 15, 1946 by Greymont & Sziklas. He said that <br />he had checked with the Town Engineer who approved the plans and the <br />setback. <br />The Chairman asked what class building would be erected and Mr. <br />Greymont said that it would be second-class, masonry, steel and <br />timber roof framing. <br />The Chairman asked if the building would be smooth on the out- <br />side and Mr. Greymont replied in the affirmative. <br />The Chairman asked what type freezing plant would be used and Mr. <br />Greymont said that it would be quick freeze. He said that the foods <br />would be put through a quick freeze process and then stored. <br />Mr. Gosselin said that they would use freeze on, a gas which is <br />not dangerous and similar to a home freezer. He said that the <br />machine would not be more than three horsepower. <br />The Chairman asked how many lockers would be in the building <br />and Mr. Gosselin said that they would have 750, 18 inches square and <br />30 inches deep. <br />The Chairman asked if food would be brought in from the outside <br />and Mr. Gosselin replied only from local people. <br />Mr. Redman asked if there would be a butcher to carve meats and <br />Mr. Gosselin said that they did not intend to have a butcher full <br />time. <br />The Chairman asked what hours the store would be open and Mr. <br />Lowry said that they would be opeh from 8:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. <br />except offj Fridays when the store would be open from 8:00 a.m. until <br />9:00 p.m. <br />
