175 <br /> 1 TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITThE <br /> November 13, 1958 <br /> The eighth meeting of the Town Celebrations <br /> Committee of 1958-59 was held in the Conference <br /> Room of the Town Office Building on November 13, <br /> 1958 at 8 00 p.m Present were Messrs Gustin, <br /> Cobb, Hutchins, Mesdames Litchfield, Williams and <br /> Pullen <br /> The members of the Theater Guild described <br /> the first American comedy, "The Contrast, " by Royall THEATRE <br /> Tyler - 1970, which they would like to present in GUILD <br /> connection with the celebration of April 19, 1959 <br /> The hero is from New England, the play is seldom done, <br /> and no one owns it ( Royall Tyler, a descendant of <br /> the author is presently a student at M I T or Har- <br /> vard ) <br /> The Committee gave its approval to the Theater <br /> Guild to proceed with plans for producing the play <br /> Two performances on Saturday (matinee and evening) <br /> April 18th, seemed preferable Mr Cobb will reserve <br /> the High. School for that date, if possible About <br /> three hundred dollars will be needed to cover ex- <br /> penses for costumes cost of auditorium, sets, etc <br /> Mr Hutchins will speak to Mr Sands, President of <br /> the Lexington Historical Society, to find out whether <br /> or not the Historical Society would be interested in <br /> cooperating with the Theater Guild in presenting the <br /> play <br /> Mr Cole reported that the Thanksgiving program <br /> is complete; 1000 programs have been ordered Mr THANKSGIVING <br /> Niles Woodbridge Bond, a resident of Lexington and at <br /> pre-se-n-t—a member—of the- Amrsr-ioan dslega-t-1on o Gha = <br /> Center of International Affairs at Harvard University, <br /> will give the Thanksgiving address Mr Cole read a <br /> biography of Mr Bond Mrs Litchfield will order <br /> flowers for Mrs Bond and Mr Bond' s mother, and <br /> fourteen boutonnieres for the ten Lexington Council of <br /> Churches ushers and others <br /> Mrs Williams will take the Thanksgiving program <br /> and the speaker' s biography to the Minute-man newspaper <br /> Mr Gus tin will ask Mr Warren to announce to high <br /> school students that a former Lexington high school <br /> student will give the Thanksgiving address <br /> Mrs Litchfield will write to the ministers and <br /> advise them of the Thanksgiving speaker She will thank <br />
