1a7 <br /> 7 <br /> TOWN CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> March 6, 1958 <br /> The 24th meetingof the Town Celebrations Com- <br /> mittee was held at 8 1p.m , March 6, 1958 in the <br /> Conference Room, Cary Memorial Hall Present were <br /> Messrs Gustin, Rooney, Lewis, Cole, Poehler and <br /> Mesdames Pullen, Litchfield and Williams <br /> Also present were Chief of Police John Rycroft <br /> and Mr William Fitzgerald representing the Lexing- <br /> ton Fire Department <br /> The format of the parades was outlined Prob- <br /> lems of placement of parade divisions before the <br /> parade were discussed in an effort to keep the wait- <br /> ing units from congesting streets with. heavy traffic <br /> Police Chief Rycroft volunteered to see that <br /> the Common is roped off properly, and offered to se- POLICE <br /> cure the rope He reported that lunch. will be DEPARTMENT <br /> served to the policemen at police headquarters that <br /> day He hoped that M P ' s from Hanscom Field might <br /> be available to assist Lexington police that day, <br /> and would look into the matter <br /> Mr Fitzgerald, reported that seven fire chiefs <br /> from surrounding towns have accepted invitations to FIRE <br /> participate in the parade Five will send fire appar- DEPARTMENT <br /> atus and C D units The Committee moved, seconded <br /> and voted to send a letter to the Boston Fire Dept <br /> Bandmaster requesting that band' s participation The <br /> Lexington Fire Dept will serve refreshments to the <br /> visiting firemen at the fire station <br /> "All Americans Birth Record" was the title <br /> suggested by Mr Lewis for a book recording the names <br /> of people receiving an April 19th Certificate of <br /> Birth. <br /> Mrs Pullen reported that the Chamber of Com- <br /> merce will sponsor three trophies for floats in three FLOATS <br /> categories to be named by the Committee, one of which. <br /> should be Youth-Sponsored The Committee voted to <br /> accept the Chamber of Commerce offer, and named the <br /> other two categories, Community-Sponsored and Commerce- <br /> Sponsored, with, the stipulation that on commercially <br /> sponsored floats there should be not more than two iden- <br /> tifications and they should be no larger than fifteen <br /> square feet each. <br />
