3 <br /> LEXINGTON CELEBRATIONS COMMITTEE <br /> Season of 1955-56 <br /> Minutes of First Meeting, Wednesday, September 21, 1955 <br /> The first meeting of the Lexington Celebrations Com- <br /> mittee was held in the Selectmen's Room at the Town Office <br /> Building, Wednesday, September 21, 1955 The meeting was <br /> called for 7 30 p.m but did not get under way until about <br /> 8 o'clock There were present <br /> Mrs. Edith B. Cheever (Mrs Wilbur E ) <br /> Mr Murray Dearborn <br /> Mrs Dorothea Dodge (Mrs Arthur C ) <br /> Mr George E Foster <br /> Mr Bertram P Gustin <br /> Mr Lewis Kennedy <br /> Mr Raymond E Lewis <br /> Mr Joseph Rooney <br /> Mr Eugene A Sawyer <br /> The following members named by the Selectmen to serve <br /> on the Committee were not present <br /> Col Connell T Albertine <br /> Mr Joseph Belcher <br /> Mr Howard Butler <br /> Mr Albert G Frothingham <br /> Mr Bentley S. Hutchins <br /> Mrs Edna F Litchfield (Mrs Harry W ) <br /> Col Anthony Rock <br /> Two men originally named by the Selectmen were unable <br /> to serve and had declined the appointment, namely <br /> Mr Maurice Gagne <br /> Mr Daniel P O'Connor <br /> Mr George E Foster called the meeting together PURPOSE <br /> at the request of the Selectmen and explained that the <br /> purpose of it was for the Committee to organize He <br /> declined the nomination to act as Chairman He explained <br /> that we are appointed for one year only and that our term <br /> expires July 1, 1956 and our duties are to arrange for <br /> celebrations by the Town of certain holidays, chiefly <br /> United Nations Day and Patriots Day but also Veterans' Day <br /> and Memorial Day It is not a permanent Committee but <br /> probably a similar one will be appointed each year <br /> Uponmotion duly made and seconded, Mr Raymond CHAIRMAN <br /> E Lewis was elected Chairman and accepted the election. <br /> �- There was some discussion about who would serve <br />
