TOWN OF LEXINGTON <br />135 <br />with Woburn Street and Winthrop Road to the easterly <br />line of Meriam Street. <br />On either side of Waltham Street from Massachuseits <br />Avenue to the northerly line of Vine Brook Road, and on <br />either :side of Muzzev Street from Massachusetts Avenue <br />to a point three hundred (300) feet southerly from Massa- <br />chusetts Avenue, <br />District 3. On either side of Bedford Street from the <br />southerly line of the property now known as the Colonial <br />Garage to the northerly line of the property occupied by <br />Cuctance Brothers' carpenter shop. <br />District 4. On either side of Bedford Street from <br />its junction with Recd Street to a point two hundred (200) <br />feels beyond the northerly line of the junction of North <br />Ilancock Street with said Bedford Street, and also on either <br />side of North Hancock Street northerly a distance of four <br />hundred (400) feet. <br />District 5. On either side of Massachusetts Avenue <br />between Cedar and Lake Streets. <br />District 6. On either side of each intersecting street <br />a distance of two hundred (200) feet from the junction of <br />Middle and Waltham Streets. <br />• District 7. On either side of each intersecting street <br />a distance of two hundred (200) feet from the junction <br />of Lincoln, School and Marrett Streets. <br />• District 8. On either side of each intersecting street <br />a distance of two hundred (200) feet from the junction <br />of Waltham Street and Concord Avenue. <br />All the foregoing districts designated for commercial <br />purposes shall have a depth extending• back a distance of <br />one hundred and fifty (150) feet from the street line. <br />ARTICLE 3 <br />Manufacturing Purposes. <br />Section! 1. The following' districts may be used for <br />the carrying on of light manufacturing and may also include <br />any uses permitted in Article 1 and Article 2 namely: <br />District 1. On land adjoining the Boston & Maine, <br />Railroad, commencing at the Arlington Town Line and <br />extending along the northerly side of the location of said <br />railroad to within three hundred 000) feet of Maple <br />Street. <br />136 ANNUAL REPORT <br />District 2. From where Valley Road crosses said rail- <br />road location along the northerly line of said location to the <br />Bedford Town Line. <br />Said districts to extend a depth of three i'rundred (300) <br />feet from line of the location of said railroad. <br />ARTICLE 4 <br />Existing Buildings. <br />Section 1. Any building .or part of a building which <br />at the time of the adoption of these by-laws is being used <br />for a purpose which does not conform to the restrictions <br />of the district wherein it is situated may be permitted to <br />continue in such use and may also and is hereby allowed to <br />be enlarged and auxiliary buildings may be built for the <br />purpose of accommodating additional business of such busi- <br />ness as is at present carried on. <br />Section 2. Nothing in the preceeding section shall boy <br />construed to effect any building for which a permit has <br />been issued and upon which work has been commenced prior <br />to the adoption of this by-law. <br />Section 3. All public parks playgrounds, churches, <br />lodges, schools and Iand or buildings beloging to, or occupied <br />by, the United States Government or the Commonwealth <br />shall be exempt from the requirements of this by-law. <br />ARTICLE 5 <br />Enforcement and Penalties. <br />Section 1. This by-law shall be enforced by the Build- <br />ing Inspector and his decision in any matter relative thereto, <br />shall be subject to a review of the Board of Appeal as pro- <br />vided for in the buildings e s of the town. <br />Section 2. The juri. diction of courts- in equity and <br />at law and penalties for c'olation of any of the provisions <br />of this by-law shall be the same as are provided for viola- <br />tions of the building laws et'' the town. <br />ARTICLE 6 <br />Amendments. <br />Section 1. Upon a petition of any owner of real estate <br />to amend or alter any of the provisions of this by-law, the <br />selectmen shall. give a public hearing, but seven days before_ <br />such hearing is given, the selectmen shall nubliish a notice: <br />thereof in one or more local papers and shall also mall a <br />notice of such petition to each property owner within oae- <br />half mile of the location specified in such petition, <br />
