ART3CLE I. On motion of Frank D. Peirce it was <br />Voted to proceed to the election of a moderator, that the check <br />list be used, and the polls kept open two minutes. <br />At the close of the polls five ballots had been cast, all for Edwin <br />A. Bayley for moderator. He was declared elected, and was sworn <br />by the Clerk. <br />ARTS. 13 AND 14. Relating to sewer question. <br />On motion of Arthur F. Hutchinson it was <br />Voted that Articles 13 and 14 be indefinitely postponed. <br />This vote was doubted by seven or more voters, and the house <br />was polled with the following result: For indefinite postponement, <br />120; against indefinite postponement, 52. <br />ART. 3. Compensation for fighting brush fires. <br />Under this article William P. Martin explained the situation and <br />stated that a large number of brush fires had occurred during April <br />and May owing to the dry weather. <br />Mr. Martin offered the following motion :— <br />Voted that the sum of $400.00 be hereby appropriated and <br />assessed to be expended in payment of the expenses incurred or to <br />be incurred by the Forest Warden in extinguishing forest fires, and <br />that the persons employed in extinguishing such fires shall be paid <br />for their services at the rate of forty cents per hour. <br />And the town so voted. <br />ART. 11. Acceptance of Shirley street. <br />Under this article Frank D. Peirce, chairman of the Selectmen, <br />offered a report in behalf of the Board, recommending the accep- <br />tance of Shirley street as a public way. (See Reports of Com- <br />mittees, page 91, for report.) <br />On motion of Hiram G. Janvrin it was <br />G7 <br />Voted, unanimously, that the report be accepted and its recom- <br />mendations adopted. <br />ART. 12. Acceptance of Audubon road. <br />Under this article Frank D. Peirce, chairman of the Selectmen, <br />offered a report recommending the acceptance of Audubon road as <br />a public way. (See Reports of Committees, page 92 for report.) <br />Following the reading of the report, Edward C. Stone offered the <br />following motion <br />Voted, that the recommendations of the Selectmen in regard to <br />the laying out of Audubon road be accepted and adopted, and the <br />said Audubon road as laid out by the Selectmen be accepted as a <br />public highway or town way. <br />Albert S. Parsons offered an amendment that the word street be <br />used in place of the word road. The amendment was lost, and the <br />town voted unanimously to accept the motion of Mr. Stone. <br />ART. 4. Addition to Treasurer's salary. <br />Under this article Alonzo E. Locke offered the following : — <br />Voted that an additional sum of $300.00 be appropriated and <br />assessed for Town Treasurer, and that his salary be fixed at the rate <br />of $1004.00 per annum from March 1st, 1911. <br />And the town so voted. <br />ART. 7. Under 'this article Charles H. Spaulding, chairman of <br />the committee to "Investigate the needs of the Fire Department," <br />made a verbal report. <br />ARTS. 8, 9, awn 10. Relating to Fire Department. <br />On motion of Alonzo E. Locke Articles 8, 9, and 10 were taken <br />up together. Under these articles a general discussion took place in <br />regard to repairing the Center Engine House and buying an auto - <br />'S8 <br />
