<br />he was declared elected and was sworn by the Town Clerk.
<br />ARTS. 2, 3, 4. Abram B. Smith and Charles W. Swan, having
<br />been appointed ballot clerks, were sworn by the Town Clerk and
<br />receipted to him for a package said to contain 1,000 official ballots
<br />for male voters and a package said to contain 300 official ballots for
<br />female voters, also a check list of male and female voters. Irving
<br />Stone and John J. Toomey, having been appointed deputy ballot
<br />clerks, were sworn by the Town Clerk. The ballot box was shown
<br />to be empty, then locked, and the key delivered to Charles E.
<br />Wheeler, the constable in charge, and the Moderator declared the
<br />polls open. G. Irving Tuttle, Fred G. Jones, Patrick F. Dacey,
<br />Bradley C. Whitcher, Samuel B. Bigelow, William H. Ballard,
<br />Nathaniel Nunn and Cornelius F. O'Connor having been appointed
<br />tellers, were sworn by the Town Clerk. At 9.20 o'clock, by order of
<br />the Moderator and Town Clerk, the ballot box was opened. Three
<br />hundred ballots were taken out. At 11.50 o'clock 150 ballots were
<br />taken out; at 2.30 o'clock 200 ballots were taken out; at 4.15
<br />o'clock 100 ballots were taken out, and at the close of the polls at
<br />5 o'clock 59 ballots of mak voters and 29 ballots of female voters
<br />were taken from the boxes. The check list used by the Moderator
<br />showed the names of 809 male and 29 female voters checked. The
<br />check list used by the Ballot Clerks showed the names of 809 male
<br />and 29 female voters checked. The ballot box register stood at
<br />809. After the Tellers had completed their work the Town Clerk
<br />announced the result as follows
