<br />Charles E. Wheeler, the constable in charge, and the Moderator
<br />declared the polls open. Samuel B. Bigelow, Frank E. Clarke,
<br />Lucius A. Austin, G. Irving Tuttle, Henry E. \Voodward,.James F.
<br />McCarthy, George L. Pierce and Cornelius F. O'Connor having
<br />been appointed Tellers, were sworn by the Town Clerk. At 11.10
<br />o'clock, by order of the Moderator and Town Clerk, the ballot box
<br />was opened and 200 ballots were taken out ; at 3 o'clock 100
<br />ballots were taken out; at 3.50 o'clock 50 ballots were taken out.
<br />After the close of the polls at 5 o'clock 35 ballots of male and 70
<br />ballots of female voters were taken from the boxes. The check lists
<br />used by the Ballot Clerks showed the names of 385 male and 70
<br />female voters checked. The check list used by the Moderator
<br />showed the names of 385 male and 70 female voters checked. The
<br />ballot -box register stood at 385. After the Tellers- had completed
<br />their work the Town Clerk announced the result as follows :
