.15 <br />ART. 16. 'To -see what measures the town will adopt in relation <br />to the collection of taxes the ensuing year, or act in any manner <br />relating thereto. <br />ART. 17. '1'o see if the town will make an appropriation to con- <br />struct sidewalks with concrete or other materials where the abutters <br />will pay one-half the expense thereof. <br />ART. 18. To see if the town will authorize the placing the Pit- <br />cairn Pistols and the tongue of the Old Bell in the Hancock Clarke <br />House under the custody of the Lexington Historical Society, or <br />act in any manner relating thereto. <br />• ART. 19. To see if the town will make an appropriation of <br />$100.00 to be expended by the Selectmen for ascertaining the cost <br />of surveying, grading and building a street sixty feet wide, extending <br />from Massachusetts avenue near Vine Brook, to Pleasant street, or <br />act in any manner relating thereto. <br />ART. 20. To see if the town will appropriate the sum of $100.00 <br />for the purpose of flooding the base ball grounds during the winter <br />season next ensuing, thereby providing skating facilities for both <br />young and old, or act in any manner relating thereto. <br />ART. 21. '1'o see if the town will appoint a committee to act <br />with the Selectmen for the purpose of investigating the whole matter <br />of the Water Department, the finances thereof, and to ascertain and <br />report whether or not the amount of six per cent. guaranteed by <br />takers on extensions has been collected, and to report to the town a <br />plan for placing the Water Department on a self-sustaining basis, or <br />act in any manner relating thereto. <br />ART. 22. To see if the town will make an appropriation to cover <br />the deficit in the Water Department, or act in any manner relating <br />thereto. <br />Id <br />Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant, with your <br />doings thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the -time of said <br />meeting. <br />Given under our hands, at Lexington, this twenty-first day of <br />February, A. WOODWARD, <br />Selectmen of Lexington. <br />MEETING MARCH 5, 1906. <br />Meeting called to order at 7.10 o'clock a. m. by the 'Town Clerk, <br />who proceeded to read the Warrant. After reading the first two <br />articles, on motion of Edwin A. Bayley it was voted unanimously <br />that the reading of the remainder of the articles be dispensed with. <br />The return of the Constable on the Warrant was then read by the <br />Clerk. <br />ARTICLE 1. On motion of Arthur D. Stone it was _ <br />Poled, That a Moderator be elected by ballot; that the check <br />list be used, and that the polls be kept open two minutes. At the <br />close of the polls two ballots had been cast, all for Edwin A. Bayley, <br />and he was declared elected and was sworn by the Town Clerk. <br />ARTS. 2 and 3, Abram B. Smith and Charles W. Swan having <br />been appointed Ballot Clerks, were sworn by the Town Clerk and <br />receipted to him for a sealed package said to contain 700 official <br />ballots for male voters, and a sealed package said to contain 200 offi- <br />cial ballots for female voters, also a check list for male and female <br />voters. Irving Stone and James A. Hurley having been appointed <br />Deputy Ballot Clerks, were sworn by the Town Clerk.
