33 <br />MEETING MARCH 21, 1904. <br />Meeting called to order by the Town Clerk at 7 o'clock a.m. By <br />unanimous vote the reading of the warrant was dispensed with. <br />ARTICLE 1. On motion of Edward C. Stone it was <br />Voted, To elect a Moderator; that the check list be used, and <br />that the polls be kept open two minutes. <br />At the close of the polls it was found 23 ballots had been cast, all <br />for William H. Whitaker, and he was declared elected and was <br />sworn by the Town Clerk. <br />ART. 2. The following election officers were appointed by Edwin <br />S. Spaulding, Selectman, and George W. Sampson, Justice of the <br />Peace : Ballot Clerks, Abram B. Smith, Irving Stone; Deputy Ballot <br />Clerks, Homer B. Locke, Robert C. Moakley ; Tellers, George S. <br />Teague, Samuel B. Bigelow, Francis Locke, Bradley C. Whitcher. <br />And they were sworn by the 'Town Clerk. <br />The Ballot Clerks receipted to the Town Clerk for a package said <br />to contain 900 official ballots and a copy of the voting list. <br />The ballot box was shown to be empty, then locked, and the key <br />delivered to Charles H. Frank, the constable in charge, and the polls <br />having been declared open, the balloting commenced. <br />At 8.20 o'clock Dr. Samuel D. Bartlett was called to the chair by <br />the Moderator to act as Moderator pra tem, and he was sworn by <br />the Town Clerk. <br />At 2 o'clock, by consent of the Moderator and Town Clerk, the <br />ballot box was opened and 600 ballots were taken out : at 3.50 <br />o'clock 100 ballots were taken out ; at 4.25 o'clock 50 ballots were <br />taken out, and at the close of the polls 25 ballots were taken out. <br />34 <br />The check list used by the Moderator showed 775 names checked. <br />The check list used by the Ballot Clerks showed 775 names checked. <br />Ballot -box register stood at 774. After the Tellers had Finished <br />tabulating, the result was declared by the Moderator as follows <br />For Selectmen to serve until the annual meeting, March, 1405 : <br />Edwin S. Spaulding <br />Edward C. Stone <br />George W. Taylor <br />Henry A. C. Woodward <br />Scattering <br />Blanks <br />525 <br />421 <br />432 <br />388 <br />3 <br />556 <br />And Edwin S. Spaulding, Edward C. Stone and George W. Taylor <br />were declared elected. <br />The check lists used by the Moderator and Ballot Clerks were <br />sealed up and signed by the Moderator, Town Clerk and Ballot <br />Clerks. The ballots cast were sealed up and signed by the Moder- <br />ator and Town Clerk, and at 5.20 o'clock the Moderator declared <br />the meeting dissolved. <br />A true record, GEO. D.
