19 <br />ART. 26. To see if the town will accept the way from Bedford <br />street to residence of C. E. Wheeler, known as "Valley road," or <br />act in any manner in relation to improving same. <br />Hereof fail not, and make due return of this warrant, with your <br />doings thereon, to the Town Clerk on or before the time of said <br />meeting. <br />Given under our hands, at Lexington, this twentieth day of Feb- <br />ruary, A. D., 1904. <br />EDWIN S. SPAULDING, <br />GEORGE W. TAYLOR, <br />Selectmen of Lexington. <br />MEETING MARCH 7, 1904. <br />Meeting called to order by the Town Clerk at 7.15 o'clock. The <br />Clerk began to read the warrant, when by unanimous vote of the <br />meeting the further reading was dispensed with. <br />ARTICLE 1. On motion of Edward C. Stone it was voted to elect <br />a Moderator, that the check list be used, and that the polls be kept <br />open one minute. At the close of the polls it was found one ballot <br />had been cast for Edward C. Stone and he was declared elected, and <br />was sworn by the Town Clerk. <br />ARTS. 2 and 3. Abram B. Smith and Charles W. Swan having <br />been appointed Ballot Clerks were sworn by the Town Clerk and <br />receipted to him for a package said to contain 900 official ballots for <br />male voters and a package said to contain 250 official ballots for fe- <br />male voters. Irving Stone and Robert C. Moakley having been ap- <br />pointed Deputy Ballot Clerks were sworn by the Town Clerk. The <br />ballot box was shown to be empty, then Iocked and the key delivered <br />20 <br />to William B. Foster, the Constable in charge, and the polls having <br />been declared open by the Moderator the balloting commenced. <br />C. F. Nourse, James Barnes, S. B. Bigelow, George L. Pierce, J. A. <br />Hurley, Francis Locke, B. C. Whitcher and Homer B. Locke having <br />been appointed Tellers were sworn by the Moderator. At 10.45 <br />o'clock, by unanimous consent of the Moderator and Town Clerk, <br />the ballot box was opened and 150 ballots were taken out. At 2 <br />o'clock 150 ballots were taken out, at 3.45 o'clock 50 ballots were <br />taken out, at 4.45 o'clock 50 ballots were taken out. At 5 o'clock <br />the Moderator declared the polls closed. After the close of the <br />polls 45 ballots of male voters and 40 ballots of female voters were <br />taken from the boxes. The check list used by the Ballot Clerks <br />showed the names of 445 male and 40 female voters checked. The <br />Moderator's check list showed the names of 445 male and 40 female <br />voters checked. Ballot box register stood at 445. After the Tellers <br />had completed their work the Moderator announced the vote as <br />follows : <br />TOWN CLERK—One Year. <br />George D.
