<br />During the past year, the engineers have replaced eight miles of
<br />overhead fire alarm wire, extended the system about two miles on
<br />Waltham street to Concord avenue, and repaired the rest of the sys-
<br />tem. In addition, two and one-half miles of cable have been placed
