31 - <br />ART. 6. On motion of George D. Harrington it was <br />Voted, That the names of Bowman W. Patten, James H. Boynton, <br />Henry S. Raymond, Frances E. Ballard, and Charles M. Rogers be <br />stricken from the list at their own request, and that the name of <br />Thomas Thompson be added, and that the list as revised be accepted <br />by the town. <br />ART. 15. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That for the purpose of precuring temporary loans to and for <br />the use of the Town of Lexington in anticipation of taxes of the pre- <br />sent municipal year, the Town Treasurer is hereby authorized to <br />borrow from time to time with the approval of the Board of Se]ect- <br />men, and to execute and deliver the note or notes of the Town there- <br />for, payable within one year from the time the loan is made. All <br />debts incurred under this vote shall be paid from the taxes of the <br />present municipal year. <br />ART. 16. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That all taxes for 1903 be made payable December 1, <br />1903 ; That an allowance of ; per cent for each full month be <br />made for prior payment, that interest at the rate of 6 per cent per <br />annum be charged an all taxes paid after December 1, 1903, and <br />that the Tax Collector be instrucIed to collect all taxes by June 1, <br />1904. <br />ART. 17. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That $800 be appropriated and assessed for the con- <br />struction of sidewalks with concrete or other material, the abutters <br />to pay one-half the expense thereof. <br />ART. 19. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That the town issue ten registered bonds of $1000 each, <br />dated November 1, 1903, payable in twenty years from date and <br />32 <br />bearing interest at the rate of 4 per cent per annum, principal and <br />interest to be paid in gold coin of the United States of the present <br />standard of weight and fineness, to refund an equal amount of the <br />bonds of the town denominated " Lexington Water Bonds," which <br />become due November 1, 1903, under the provisions of Chapter <br />160 of the Acts of 1896, and that said bonds be sold at private sale <br />under the direction of the Selectmen upon the best terms that they <br />can obtain. Vote unanimous. <br />ART. 20. Mr. A. E. Locke moved "That the sum of $200 be <br />appropriated and assessed to meet the expense of providing a flag <br />pole and flag to be placed upon the High School Rouse grounds, <br />the same to be expended under the direction of the School Com- <br />mittee." <br />Mr. R. P. Clapp said that he thought that some patriotic citizen <br />would come forward with an offer to present this pole and flag to <br />the school, but as nobody had done so he would be pleased to do <br />it himself. <br />Mr. Locke's motion was then put and declared lost. <br />Mr. E. A. Bayley moved that the thanks of the town be tendered <br />Mr. Clapp for his generous offer which was carried by a rising vote. <br />ART. 21. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $2000 be appropriated and assessed for <br />the purpose of making repairs on the Town Hall Building, the same <br />to be expended under the direction of the Selectmen. <br />ART. 22. On motion of A. E. Locke it was <br />Voted, That the sum of $1000 be appropriated and assessed ; <br />$850 for the purpose of repairing and renewing wires of the fire <br />alarm service, and $150 for new fire alarm boxes to be located at <br />the discretion of the Engineers of the Fire Department. <br />
