19 20 <br />As the Moderator was about to close the polls Edward P. Merriam <br />moved that the polls be kept open 15 minutes longer. The Mod- <br />erator ruled that under the warrant and town by-laws this could <br />not be done, and at 5 o'clock the Moderator declared the polls <br />closed. After the close of the polls 136 ballots of male voters and <br />39 ballots of female voters were taken from the boxes. The check <br />lists used by the Ballot Clerks showed the names of 686 male voters <br />and 239 female voters checked. The Moderator's check list <br />showed the names of 686 male voters, and 239 female voters <br />checked. Ballot box register at close of the polls stood at 678. <br />After the 'fellers had completed their labors the Moderator announ- <br />ced the vote as follows : <br />FOR TowN CLERK—One Year. <br />George D. Harrington - - 551 <br />Scattering - 2 <br />Blanks - 133 <br />And George D. Harrington was declared elected. <br />SEI,Ec1 1AN—Three Years. <br />FOR SURVEYORS OF HIGHWAYS—One Year. <br />John F. Hutchinson - 385 <br />Edwin S. Spalding 447 <br />George W. Taylor - - 337 <br />Henry A. C. Woodward 383 <br />Blanks - - 506 <br />And John F. Hutchinson, Edwin S. Spaulding and H. A. C. Wood- <br />ward were declared elected. <br />ASSESSORS—One Year. <br />George H. Cutter - - 369 <br />Charles G. Kauffmann - - - 400 <br />Everett S.
