27 <br />said bonds be sold at private sale under the direction of the Select- <br />men upon the best terms they can obtain. <br />ART. 4. Under this article Mr. Geo. W. Taylor made the follow- <br />ing report in behalf of the Selectmen. The Selectmen recommend <br />the acceptance of an extension of Pelham Road from a point on <br />Louise S. Parson's frontage to which it is now accepted to the <br />fartherest extent of Theresa H. Garrison's land, being about three <br />hundred feet. The Selectmen also recommend the acceptance of a <br />road running from Pelham Road to Warren Street, both streets to <br />be accepted when satisfactory deed is made to the town. On <br />motion it was <br />Voted, That the streets be accepted in accordance with the <br />recommendations of the Selectmen. <br />Mr. Geo. 0. Whiting in behalf of the committee on finance pre- <br />sented the printed report of that committee. Under this report the <br />meeting proceeded to take up the various articles. <br />ART. 4. On motion of Mr. Geo. H. Cutter it was <br />Voted, That the town appropriate two hundred dollars, $200, <br />for the observance of Memorial Day, said amount to be paid to the <br />Quarter Master of Geo. G. Meade, Post 119, G. A. R. <br />ART. 8. Mr. Geo. W. Sampson offered the following 'notion. <br />WHEREAS, a bequest to the town of Lexington is reported to have <br />been made by the late Chandler R. Richardson of a certain portion <br />of the property owned by him to be devoted to the use of a manual <br />training school for the town, and <br />WHERFas, no practical result has shown itself in that direction, it <br />is hereby <br />Voted, That a committee of three be appointed by the chair to <br />28 <br />investigate the matter fully and to report on the subject either <br />at an adjournment of this meeting or at the next town meeting. <br />Mr. Sampson made some remarks on the subject. <br />Mr. Geo. W. Taylor said that the Selectmen had gone into the <br />matter quite fully with Mr. Scott, the trustee of the Richardson <br />will. <br />The chair was of the opinion that the meeting ought first to pass <br />upon the question of the appropriation as reported by the com- <br />mittee. Remarks were made on the question by Messrs. B. F. <br />Brown, F. S. Piper and E. P. Bliss. It was then upon motion <br />declared by the chair, <br />Voted, That the sum of twenty-two thousand seven hundred and <br />sixty-one and 72-100 dollars ($22,761.72) be appropriated and <br />assessed for the support of Schools for the ensuing year. <br />Voted, To adjourn. <br />At 10 o'clock adjourned to Monday, April 14th, at 7.30 p. nt. <br />ADJOURNED MEETING APRIL 14, 1902. <br />Meeting called to order by the Moderator at 7.30 p. tn. <br />The question come on the motion of Mr. G. W. Sampson offered <br />at the adjourned meeting, April 7th, Mr. E. P. Merriam moved <br />that the whole question be referred to the Selectmen. Remarks <br />were made in regard to the subject by Messrs. Scott, Sampson, <br />Bayley and others. Mr. Parker moved that the whole matter be <br />indefinitely postponed.
