To see if the Town will vote to erect a new High School <br />Building of sufficient size to accommodate the high school grades <br />alone, or the high school grades together with some of the grades <br />from the two grammar schools, or to act in any manner relating <br />thereto. <br />Mr. E. A. Bayley moved that a committee of 12 be appointed to <br />proceed to erect, construct and equip a new school building. <br />Mr. G. W. Sampson wanted the committee to be reduced to <br />three. <br />Mr. H. G. Janvrin wanted the committee to consist of five. <br />Mr. A. E. Scott disliked to oppose the matter but said we should <br />consider the cost. <br />Mr. B. F. Brown advocated opening primary schools. <br />Mr. J. I. Buck thought the present High school building was not <br />fit for school purposes and could not be used much longer. <br />Mr. R. P. Clapp wanted the committee to hold back a little and <br />moved that the motion of Mr. Bayley be laid on the table, and the <br />town <br />Volga', That the motion of Mr. Bayley be laid on the table. <br />Mr. Clapp moved that when this meeting adjourn it be adjourned <br />to three weeks from tonight (Feby. 18, 1901), and the town so <br />voted. <br />Mr. Clapp then moved that a committee of five be appointed by <br />the Moderator to bring in a report on a High School Building and a <br />Primary School Building, and the town so voted, and the Moderator <br />appointed as such committee : R. P. Clapp, E. A. Bayley, H. A. C. <br />22 <br />Woodward, H. W. Lewis and R. I. Sherman, with power to fill <br />vacancies. <br />ART. 8. To hear the report of any committee that may be ready <br />to report, and to act thereon. <br />This article was taken up on motion of Mr. H. W. Lewis, who <br />stated that it was for the purpose of hearing the report of Committee <br />on Sewerage. Mr. H. C.Y. Janvrin read the following report :— <br />REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON SEWERAGE, <br />CIRCULATED HY ORDER OF THE 'TOWN, JANUARY 28TH, 1901. <br />LEXINGTON, January 28th, 1901. <br />To the Citizens of Lexington:— <br />Your Committee, appointed at the Town Meeting of March 12th, <br />1900, to consider the subject of Sewerage, and to compare the <br />respective methods of assessments under the Acts of 1897 and 1899 <br />and to take any other and further action relative to a system of <br />Sewerage, or relative to any plan or method of defraying, apportion- <br />ing or assessing the cost of a sewerage system, have given the subject <br />careful consideration, and now submit the following report <br />WE RECOMMEND, <br />That the whole system of Sewerage as shown on the plans of <br />McClintock & Woodfall, Engineers, be built and completed in <br />accordance with the said plans as soon as practicable. <br />That Sections 1 and 2 of Chapter 451 of the Acts of 1899, rela- <br />tive to the sewerage system of the Town of Lexington, be adopted. <br />'That Section, 3, of said Act, shall be amended to read as follows : <br />
