17 <br />term of two years; one member of the cemetery committee for the <br />term of three years; one member of the school committee for the <br />term of three years; one member of the board of sewer commis- <br />sioners for the term of three years; one member of the board of <br />health for the term of three years. <br />ART. 3. To see if the town will vote for or against granting <br />licenses for the sale of intoxicating liquors, in answer to the ques- <br />tion : "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of intoxicating liquors <br />in this town?" The vote on the above question shall be by ballot, <br />"Yes" or "No." <br />The election officers will receive votes under Articles 2 and 3 <br />on the official ballot prepared by the town clerk. <br />The polls will be opened as soon as possible after the organiza- <br />tion of the meeting and will be kept open until 5 o'clock P. M. <br />ARTS. 2 and 3. The ballot clerks and deputies, viz : Abram E. <br />Smith, Charles G. Kauffmann, Irving Stone and Dennis H. Collins, <br />who had been appointed by the selectmen, were sworn by the clerk <br />and then receipted to him for two sealed packages containing bal- <br />lots for male and female voters and also for copies of the check <br />list. <br />The ballot box was shown to be empty, then locked and the key <br />thereof delivered to William B. Foster, the constable in attendance, <br />and the polls were declared open and the balloting commenced. <br />At 9 o'clock A. M., Francis E. l3allard, Albern S. Chatfield, Pat- <br />rick F. Dacey and Charles F. Nourse, who had been appointed <br />tellers, were sworn, and an consent of the moderator and town <br />clerk the ballot box was opened and 250 ballots taken therefrom and <br />the tellers commenced to count and tabulate. <br />3 <br />I8 <br />At 10.45, on petition of ten voters the moderator appointed ad- <br />ditional tellers as follows : Bradley C. Whitcher, Byron C. Earle, <br />Charles E. Wheeler, William S. Meserve, and they commenced to <br />tabulate, <br />At 2.20 o'clock the ballot box was opened and 350 ballots taken <br />therefrom. <br />At 4.40 o'clock Mr. E. A. Bayley moved to extend the time for <br />closing the polls to 5.15 o'clock. On this motion the house voted <br />"No." <br />Vote doubted and house polled, when 24 voted in favor and 59 <br />opposed, and the motion was not carried. <br />At close of polls at 5 o'clock, 123 ballots were taken out. <br />The ballot box showed 721 on dial. <br />Moderator's check list, names checked <br />Ballot clerk's list, names checked <br />Number of ballots taken from box <br />Nine females voted for school committee. <br />728 <br />723 <br />723 <br />The tellers finished tabulating at 11.15 o'clock P.
