To do this would make a volume of probably 425 <br />to 450 pages, and add from $275 to $335 to the above esti- <br />mated cost for printing and binding. <br />To summarize, we make the following estimates : — <br />For 1000 bound copies covering period ending 1853, <br />$600 ; or $700, if electrotyped. <br />For 1,000 bound copies embracing period ending 1897, <br />$875 ; or $935, if electrotyped. <br />The figures given are exclusive of cost of clerical services <br />of the compiler. <br />These have cost to date $211.24, of which $72.97 is <br />charged against the appropriation of $500, made a year ago. <br />The balance of $138.27 is now due.''' <br />ROBERT P. To see if the town will vote to request their various <br />heads of departments to employ no laborers on any public <br />works who are not citizens of Lexington, or act in any manner <br />relative thereto. <br />32 <br />Motions on this article were submitted by Messrs. B. J. <br />Harrington, H. G. Janvrin and C. E. Wheeler and the <br />matter was fully discussed ; a motion to indefinitely post- <br />pone was voted down, and a motion to lay on table till <br />next meeting was defeated. <br />Messrs. Janvrin, Wheeler and Harrington were requested <br />to confer and present a motion later and they presented <br />and it was <br />Voted, To request the various heads of departments to <br />employ as laborers on any public works, none but citizens <br />of the United States. Citizens of the State of Massachu- <br />setts preferred to those of any other state, and citizens <br />of the Town of Lexington to have preference over all others. <br />ART. 25. To see if the town will vote to request the select- <br />men to order the Lexington Street Railway Co. to deposit with <br />the treasurer of the town of Lexington, before December 1st, <br />1898, the sum of one thousand ($1,000) dollars in accordance <br />with section 33 of the " Restrictions" on page 81 of the Town <br />Report, or act in any manner relating thereto. <br />On motion of Mr. H. W. Lewis it was <br />Voted, To request the selectmen to order the Lexing- <br />ton Street Railway Co. to deposit with the treasurer of <br />the town of Lexington, before December 1st, 1898, the <br />sum of one thousand dollars, in accordance with section <br />33 of the << Restrictions" on page 81 of the Town Report <br />for the year 1897. <br />ART. 26. To see if the town will instruct the selectmen to <br />cause a concrete walk to be laid on the southerly side of Bloom- <br />field street, from Eustis street to Massachusetts avenue, and <br />appropriate money for the same. <br />
