21 <br />Voted, That a committee of three, one of whom should be <br />a member of the school committee, be appointed by the chair <br />to confer with the state inspector in relation to better venti- <br />lation and lighting of the Adams and High school houses, <br />and report to the town at an adjournment of this meeting or <br />at the next town meeting, and the moderator appointed <br />Herbert S. Teele, Edwin A. Bayley and Rufus W. Holbrook. <br />ART. 9. To provide for the support of the poor at the Poor <br />Farm the ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 10. To provide for the support of outside poor the en- <br />suing year, and grant money for the same. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 11. To provide for the support of highways the en- <br />suing year, and grant money for the same. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 12. To provide for the support of street lights the <br />ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 13. To provide for the support of the fire department <br />the ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 14. To see if the town will make the appropriations <br />for town expenses the ensuing year, as submitted by the select- <br />men, or act in any manner relating thereto. <br />See adjourned meeting, April 2, 1898. <br />ART. 15. To see if the town will authorize their treasurer, <br />under the direction of the selectmen, to borrow money for any <br />22 <br />necessary purpose in anticipation of the collection of taxes the <br />current year, the same to be repaid directly from the proceeds <br />of said taxes, or act in any manner relating thereto. <br />On motion of Mr. L. A. Saville it was <br />Voted, That for the purpose of procuring temporary loans <br />to and for the use of the Town of Lexington in anticipation <br />of the taxes of the present municipal year, the town treas- <br />urer is hereby authorized to borrow from time to time with <br />the approval of the Board of Selectmen, a sum or sums not <br />exceeding in the aggregate sixty-five thousand ($,65,000) <br />dollars, and to execute and deliver the note or notes of the <br />town therefor, payable within one year from the time the <br />loan made, with interest thereon at a rate not exceeding <br />five per cent. per annum. <br />All debts incurred under this vote shall be paid from the <br />taxes of the present municipal year. <br />ART 16. To see what measures the town will adopt in rela- <br />tion to the collection of taxes the ensuing year, or act in any <br />manner relating thereto. <br />On motion of Mr. L. A. Saville it was <br />Voted, That all taxes for the current year be made pay- <br />able on or before December 1, 1898, and that a discount of <br />one-half of one per cent. for all full months prior to said <br />date, be deducted for prompt payment, and that all taxes <br />remaining unpaid at that date be subject to interest at the <br />rate of six per cent. per annum, and that the collector be <br />instructed to collect all taxes before June 1, 1899. <br />Voted, That the compensation of collector be one per <br />cent. on the amount collected. <br />
