<br />2020 Vision Implementation Committee <br />February 14, 2003Meeting Minutes <br /> – <br />7:45 a.m. Selectmen’s Meeting Room <br />Members Present: <br />Chuck Benson, Todd Burger, Helen Cohen, Peter Enrich, Ellie Epp, <br />Sherry Gordon, Tom Harden, Alan Lazarus, Fernando Quezada, Jerome Smith, Nancy <br />Wilson <br />Others: <br />Rick White, Candy McLaughlin, Wendy Rundle <br />The minutes from the January 24 meeting were approved. Wendy gave a brief summary <br />of issues from the Operations Subcommittee meeting. Discussion topics were the draft <br />agenda for the public forum, and where we are in the process and where we go from here. <br />Public Communications Needs. <br /> Candy passed around a sign-up sheet and reviewed the <br />major tasks for publicizing the process in general and the forum in particular. There was <br />discussion around revising a draft Minuteman article for publication next Thursday. <br />There was also discussion of whether pre-forum publicity should mention <br />Implementation Committee meetings and seek interested new members; it was decided <br />to focus on getting people out on March 6 at this point. A follow-up article after the <br />public meeting could also mention recruitment for the committee. There was <br />acknowledgement of numerous uncertainties about how many people may attend, but a <br />stated intention to attract as many people as possible. Additional constituencies that can <br />be tapped into include seniors, parents of school children, and the clergy. <br />Listed below are the publicity responsibilities people took on (thank you to all): <br />Alan <br />1. – write the next article on Themes III-V – send to Candy via email by the <br />end of the day Thursday, February 20 <br />Peter <br />2. – write op-ed letter for signature by all committee members – send via <br />email to Candy by Friday, February 28; Candy will send out to everyone for <br />review over the weekend and submit to the newspaper on Monday. <br />Alan <br />3. – arrange for cable broadcast of the March 6 public forum <br />Helen and Ellie <br />4. – compose a letter to boards, committees, and community groups <br />publicizing the March 6 forum and asking for their participation – send via email <br />to Candy by Thursday noon, February 20. Candy will process for mailing on <br />Friday or Monday. <br />Fernando <br />5. – work with Candy on a letter to former 2020 Vision participants and <br />Town Meeting members and candidates – document needed by Thursday noon, <br />February 20. Candy will also send out via TMMA email list. <br />Todd, Peter <br />6. – volunteer to speak about 2020 Vision if a group requests a speaker <br />Jerome, Chuck, Tom <br />7. – individually orient new board members to the 2020 <br />Vision process. <br />March 6 Public Forum. <br /> Wendy reviewed the draft meeting plan and agenda. There <br />was considerable discussion about the amount of large group time in the meeting <br />compared to time in small group discussion, with attention to issues of process, content, <br />and cadence of the meeting.
