2 <br />The Teen Advisory Board from the Cary Library also offers a Teen Tech Program <br />that helps seniors with technology issues. <br />o Tournaments for Ping Pong and Billiards were discussed. <br />• Archana Singhal suggested that the Community Center might want to offer tax <br />preparation classes that would be targeted for a variety of age groups. <br />• Dan Palant talked to Jeff Leonard about the idea of Jazz nights at the Community Center. <br />Timing could be an issue. The committee also talked about whether admission could be <br />charged. More info is needed. <br />• Nancy Adler. brought up the idea of whether a Friends of CC group might be a good idea <br />at some point. This will be an on -going discussion. She also encouraged the formation of <br />partnerships with other groups in town and continuing to look for ways to get information <br />out about the activities and programs at the Community Center. <br />4. Programming at Pelham Property <br />• The plans for the Pelham Property are moving forward. There will be a presentation to <br />the BOS on 2/27. <br />Sandro Alessandrini suggested that Indoor Soccer (Futsol) might be a good activity for <br />the Pelham gym. Melissa Battite and Sheila Butts noted that this program is currently on <br />the list of activities that would be a good fit for Pelham Road. <br />5. Community Center Director's Report <br />• Sheila reports that for the Spring Session there are 27 Youth, 28 Adult and 60+ and 15 <br />60+ classes being offered. <br />• The Community Center is applying to the Dana Home Foundation for funding for the <br />"Forever Fit" program. The committee voted unanimously to send a letter of support for <br />the application. <br />• Attendance- Total attendance sine the CC opened is 174,171. The average daily <br />attendance is 365. <br />• Sheila announced that she will be retiring on May 5th Melissa Battite reported that the <br />search for a replacement has begun. <br />Next Steps for Committee Members: <br />o Continue to reach out to your constituencies for program ideas. <br />o Think of ways to get information on Community Center programs to people in town. <br />o The Recreation Committee will be meeting on April 19th at 7pm at the Community <br />Center if anyone would like to attend. <br />• The next Community Center Program Advisory Committee meeting will be held on <br />March 23th at 7pm. <br />• Meeting adjourned at 8:45. <br />
