2 The Teen Advisory Board from the Cary Library also offers a Teen Tech Program that helps seniors with technology issues. o Tournaments for Ping Pong and Billiards were discussed. • Archana Singhal suggested that the Community Center might want to offer tax preparation classes that would be targeted for a variety of age groups. • Dan Palant talked to Jeff Leonard about the idea of Jazz nights at the Community Center. Timing could be an issue. The committee also talked about whether admission could be charged. More info is needed. • Nancy Adler. brought up the idea of whether a Friends of CC group might be a good idea at some point. This will be an on -going discussion. She also encouraged the formation of partnerships with other groups in town and continuing to look for ways to get information out about the activities and programs at the Community Center. 4. Programming at Pelham Property • The plans for the Pelham Property are moving forward. There will be a presentation to the BOS on 2/27. Sandro Alessandrini suggested that Indoor Soccer (Futsol) might be a good activity for the Pelham gym. Melissa Battite and Sheila Butts noted that this program is currently on the list of activities that would be a good fit for Pelham Road. 5. Community Center Director's Report • Sheila reports that for the Spring Session there are 27 Youth, 28 Adult and 60+ and 15 60+ classes being offered. • The Community Center is applying to the Dana Home Foundation for funding for the "Forever Fit" program. The committee voted unanimously to send a letter of support for the application. • Attendance- Total attendance sine the CC opened is 174,171. The average daily attendance is 365. • Sheila announced that she will be retiring on May 5th Melissa Battite reported that the search for a replacement has begun. Next Steps for Committee Members: o Continue to reach out to your constituencies for program ideas. o Think of ways to get information on Community Center programs to people in town. o The Recreation Committee will be meeting on April 19th at 7pm at the Community Center if anyone would like to attend. • The next Community Center Program Advisory Committee meeting will be held on March 23th at 7pm. • Meeting adjourned at 8:45.
