APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE-ATM 2017 Article 8: Accept PEG Access and Cable Related Funds Funds Requested Funding Source Committee Recommendation None N/A Approve (9-0) There have been recent changes in State finance regulations (MGL Chapter 44, Section 53F3/4)3 that allow the Town to modify the accounting method used for monies collected by the Town from local cable fran- chises. These monies are currently accrued in a PEG Access Revolving Fund and are used to pay for certain municipal cable-related expenses as well as services from LexMedia, which provides access to local cable channels and video recording and broadcast for many boards and committees in the Town. With approval of this article, a new special revenue fund to be known as the PEG Access and Cable Related Funds would begin operation in fiscal year 2018 and any balance from the existing PEG Access revolving fund would be trans- ferred to this new fund. Approving this article has no financial impact on the town. The Committee recommends approval of this request(9-0).
