Appoint an advisory board for the community center consisting of <br />• Municipal employees such as Human Services, Recreation and <br />Police <br />• Representatives from such community institutions as Cary <br />Library, Hayden Recreation Centre, Munroe Center for the Arts, <br />and the Lexington Interfaith Council <br />Hire an architect to evaluate building requirements and prepare a design <br />plan <br />For more than twenty years, Lexington has sought to identify an appropriate site for <br />an improved senior center that can deliver diverse programming to an increasing <br />and changing senior population. Lexington has also searched for ways to engage <br />and nurture our youth, and to help them successfully navigate their teenage years. <br />With this history in mind, we determined the additional space and facilities needed <br />to provide for not only for the senior and teen populations, but also for all of <br />Lexington's citizens. <br />A community center for Lexington is a concept whose time has come. <br />Respectfully submitted by the Community Center Task Force, November 26, 2012 <br />The Community Center Task Force is comprised of seven voting members and ten <br />liaisons.
