Facilities update: The DPW has added 2 Handicapped parking spaces, restriped the
parking lot, and added arrows. Automatic door openers are being installed on the rear
- the previous
ones were damaged in a lightning storm.

Charlotte reports that Senior programs are very full.

Christie, the Social Worker has a weekly group for middle school girls.
o

She introduced Lee, who is looking at clinical needs for youth.
o

Next year, there will be a Trip Around The World program. Each month, a different
o
country will be features and attendees will receive a Passport that will be stamped
each time they attend.

Tom Romano reported about programs his is working on.

l be Family Feud.
o
There have been over 650 participants so far.

Parent- Child Ping Pong now has 10 teams participating.
o

STEM classes for 7-12 year olds. Wicked Cool for Kids is the provider.
o

Bubble Soccer and Private Music Lessons are also being offered.
o

Early Release programs including skiing at Nashoba.
o

From Fall 2015 thru Summer 2016, there have been over 1300 participants.
o

If someone wants to offer a course, they can fill out a Program Proposal Sheet.
o
Citizens can also request courses they would like to see offered.

5.Balanced Programming:

Overlap of Programs: We talked about how there are many places in town where similar
programs are being offered. The Cary Library, Lexington Community Education,
Minuteman Tech and Community Center and Recreation Departments often overlap. Is
there a way to partner with other groups to combine offerings or to offer a program in
more than one location. This will be an on-going discussion.

6.Next Steps/New Business:

Carriage House- we talked about some ideas for possible uses.

Karen said that the original plans for the CC included a Gym and a large function
o
room with a commercial kitchen. It would have added too much to the initial costs,

but could be looked at again in the future.

There is interest in the idea of using the Carriage House as a youth space.
o

It was suggested that a date be set up for Committee members to visit the Carriage
o

House during the day. Details will follow.

Nancy Adler asked if there had been any interest in forming a Friends of the
o
Community Center Group. When the Center opened, it was thought that there are

would be too many Friends groups competing for the same funds.
th

Karen Simmons will be retiring on February 10. A search for her replacement is in
o

progress.

The next Community Center Program Advisory Committee meeting will be held on
December 15 at 7pm.

Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
