<br />Facilities update: The DPW has added 2 Handicapped parking spaces, restriped the <br />parking lot, and added arrows. Automatic door openers are being installed on the rear <br />- the previous <br />ones were damaged in a lightning storm. <br /> <br />Charlotte reports that Senior programs are very full. <br /> <br />Christie, the Social Worker has a weekly group for middle school girls. <br />o <br /> <br />She introduced Lee, who is looking at clinical needs for youth. <br />o <br /> <br />Next year, there will be a Trip Around The World program. Each month, a different <br />o <br />country will be features and attendees will receive a Passport that will be stamped <br />each time they attend. <br /> <br />Tom Romano reported about programs his is working on. <br /> <br />l be Family Feud. <br />o <br />There have been over 650 participants so far. <br /> <br />Parent- Child Ping Pong now has 10 teams participating. <br />o <br /> <br />STEM classes for 7-12 year olds. Wicked Cool for Kids is the provider. <br />o <br /> <br />Bubble Soccer and Private Music Lessons are also being offered. <br />o <br /> <br />Early Release programs including skiing at Nashoba. <br />o <br /> <br />From Fall 2015 thru Summer 2016, there have been over 1300 participants. <br />o <br /> <br />If someone wants to offer a course, they can fill out a Program Proposal Sheet. <br />o <br />Citizens can also request courses they would like to see offered. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Balanced Programming: <br /> <br />Overlap of Programs: We talked about how there are many places in town where similar <br />programs are being offered. The Cary Library, Lexington Community Education, <br />Minuteman Tech and Community Center and Recreation Departments often overlap. Is <br />there a way to partner with other groups to combine offerings or to offer a program in <br />more than one location. This will be an on-going discussion. <br /> <br /> <br />6.Next Steps/New Business: <br /> <br /> <br />Carriage House- we talked about some ideas for possible uses. <br /> <br />Karen said that the original plans for the CC included a Gym and a large function <br />o <br />room with a commercial kitchen. It would have added too much to the initial costs, <br /> <br />but could be looked at again in the future. <br /> <br /> <br />There is interest in the idea of using the Carriage House as a youth space. <br />o <br /> <br />It was suggested that a date be set up for Committee members to visit the Carriage <br />o <br /> <br />House during the day. Details will follow. <br /> <br />Nancy Adler asked if there had been any interest in forming a Friends of the <br />o <br />Community Center Group. When the Center opened, it was thought that there are <br /> <br />would be too many Friends groups competing for the same funds. <br />th <br /> <br />Karen Simmons will be retiring on February 10. A search for her replacement is in <br />o <br /> <br />progress. <br /> <br /> <br />The next Community Center Program Advisory Committee meeting will be held on <br />December 15 at 7pm. <br /> <br /> <br />Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. <br /> <br />
