<br />Lexington Community Center Program Advisory Committee <br /> <br />Minutes of Meeting <br /> <br />November 17, 2016 <br /> <br />A meeting of the Community Center Program Advisory Committee was held on Thursday, <br />November 17, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lexington Community Center, 39 Marrett Road, Lexington. <br /> <br />Meeting Attendees: Members - Nancy Adler, Dan Palant, Nancy Shepard (Chair), John Zhu, Lisah <br />Rhodes <br /> <br />Ex-Officio Member Attendees: Sheila Butts (Community Center Director), Charlotte Rodgers <br />(Director of Human Services) Karen Simmons (Director of Recreation & Community Programs) <br /> <br />Unable to attend: Alessandro Alessandrini, Archana Singhal <br /> <br />Other Attendees Tom Romano (Youth and Family Services Program Coordinator) Lee Gardner <br />Elkin (Co-Chair- Human Services Committee) <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7pm. <br /> <br />1. Citizens and Other Boards <br />Lee Gardner Elkin - attended because she wanted to learn more about our Committee. <br /> <br /> <br />2. Minutes of October 20 <br />The minutes from the September meeting were reviewed and unanimously accepted. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Member Representation <br /> <br />Dan gave an update on his outreach to find someone to facilitate an Intergenerational <br />Snow Sculpture Program for this winter. We discussed how to advertise the event since it <br />will depend on snow availability. The Constant Contact list (has 5000 names) could be <br />used as well the Facebook page, Lexington List, CAAL list (1000 people) and LexFUN <br />and school lists. Karen and Tom will be attending a regional meeting and will ask for <br /> <br />suggestions from colleagues. <br /> <br />Koren at the library suggests that they try an outdoor story time this summer at the CC. <br />books and places to sit and read. Nancy Shepard will check with the library about what <br />happens to kids books after the C <br />suggested that extra books could be donated to the Thompson School in <br /> <br />Arlington. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Directors Report <br /> <br />Sheila gave an update on some of the programs happening at the CC. <br /> <br />The LABBB program has a monthly dance either on a Thursday or Friday evening. <br />o <br />The Best Buddies group from LHS also attends. A space is provided for parents. <br />Students from the LABBB program also come weekly and use the gym facilities. <br /> <br />There are yoga and boxing classes. <br /> <br /> <br />The Senior Program brochure will be mailed shortly. There are 3500 newsletters sent. <br />o <br /> <br />The Winter Recreation brochure is now on-line and has also been mailed to every <br />o <br />st <br /> <br />household. Registration begins December 1 for programs that will start in January. <br /> <br />
