II. EMPLOYEES OF THE BOARD <br /> <br />The Select Board shall appoint a Town Manager, Town Comptroller, Town Counsel and an <br />Executive Clerk to the Board, who with Board approval, shall appoint such other administrative <br />support as are deemed necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the Select Board office. <br /> <br />A. Town Manager <br /> <br />1. Appointment <br /> <br />The Select Board shall appoint a Town Manager in accordance with the Selectmen-Town Manager <br />Act. The Board shall set the Town Manager’s compensation, subject to Town Meeting <br />appropriation, and such other terms and conditions of employment that they may, from time to <br />time, deem advisable. Such terms and conditions shall not be in conflict with the Selectmen-Town <br />Manager Act, Town By-Laws or any other special or general laws. <br /> <br />2. Powers and Duties <br /> <br />The Town Manager shall have the powers and duties as delineated in the Selectmen-Town <br />Manager Act and as required by those sections of the General Laws relating to towns with town <br />manager form of government. These powers and duties may not be abrogated or abridged by the <br />Select Board. The Town Manager shall perform such other duties that, from time to time, may be <br />requested by vote of the Board. The Manager shall attend all meetings of the Board, shall keep the <br />Board fully advised of the needs of the Town and shall recommend to the Board for adoption such <br />measures requiring action by them or by the Town as the Manager may deem necessary and <br />expedient. <br /> <br />The Town Manager is responsible for inter-board communication in the day-to-day operations of <br />government. The Town Manager shall develop a process for exchange of information and the <br />provision for advice and recommendations among the boards, committees and commissions with <br />common interests, which shall include but not be limited to the exchange of minutes, the <br />establishment of a central repository for data, studies and reports and the appointment of members <br />or staff of boards, committees or commissions as liaison with one another around common projects <br />such as housing needs and revitalization of the center. <br /> <br />B. Town Comptroller <br /> <br />1. Appointment <br /> <br />The Select Board shall appoint a Town Comptroller. The Comptroller shall be appointed in March <br />of every third year for a three-year term from the first day of the following April. The Comptroller <br />may be removed by the Board for cause and the vacancy filled by appointment for the remainder of <br />the unexpired term in accordance with the Selectmen-Town Manager Act and Chapter 777 of the <br />Acts of 1965 - "An Act Establishing the Office of Comptroller in the Town of Lexington". <br /> <br />2.
