CAPITAL EXPENDITURES COMMITTEE REPORT TO 2016 ATM <br />Economic Development <br />The Economic Development Office works to encourage new investment and support our local <br />businesses —big and small. The Economic Development Office serves as a liaison for businesses and <br />works to address business - related issues from parking to updating land use policy. The Office also works <br />to retain and expand local businesses by providing information, conducting research, and leveraging State <br />economic development tools and resources designed to improve the business environment. The Office <br />also cultivates and maintains relationships with State -level partners for business development and <br />infrastructure investment opportunities. <br />In addition, the Office works to leverage economic opportunities from tourism, including The Visitors <br />Center, which serves as a gateway for people who come to visit Lexington every year.
