DESCRIPTION: This article requests funds to establish a comprehensive brook cleaning and <br /> maintenance program which will comply with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act for <br /> the entire brook system in Lexington. The funds, which may also be used with matching funds <br /> from relevant grant programs, will be used to pay for developing and preparing permit <br /> documents to support DPW programs for brook cleaning and maintenance to control flooding, <br /> prevent pollution of surface and ground water, and develop programs to enhance stormwater <br /> management. <br /> ARTICLE 17 PURCHASE FIRE EQUIPMENT <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money to replace special rescue and firefighter <br /> equipment for the fire department; determine whether the money shall be provided by the tax levy, <br /> by transfer from available funds, by borrowing, or by any combination of these methods; or act in <br /> any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: $45,000 <br /> DESCRIPTION: This article requests funds to purchase some or all of the following fire <br /> fighting equipment: the Hurst Tool, also known as the Jaws of Life; an enclosed utility trailer <br /> for the storage and transport of hazardous waste equipment; an ice rescue sled; ice rescue <br /> suits; five submersible pumps; and a positive pressure ventilation device used to push smoke, <br /> heat, and burning products from a burning structure. <br /> ARTICLE 18 PURCHASE ELECTIONS OPTICAL SCAN SYSTEM <br /> To see if the Town will appropriate a sum of money to purchase an optical scanning election <br /> system to replace the current voting machines; determine whether the money shall be provided by <br /> the tax levy, by transfer from available funds, by borrowing, or by any combination of these <br /> methods; or act in any other manner in relation thereto. <br /> (Inserted by the Board of Selectmen) <br /> FUNDS REQUESTED: $86,000 <br /> DESCRIPTION: This article requests funds for replacing the current voting machines to a <br /> state-approved electronic voting system.
