CALL TO ORDER: OPEN SESSION <br /> The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM. <br /> 2. CHAIR'S REPORT,Jeff Stulin <br /> The Chair had no report. <br /> 3. PUBLIC COMMENT <br /> There was no Public Comment. <br /> 4.ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT,Kevin Mahoney <br /> a. Approval of FY 18 Budget and Preliminary Assessments <br /> Mr.Mahoney referred to material provided in the packet,which included an update to the FY 18 <br /> proposed budget presented at the January 19, 2017 Public Hearing. He explained that the updated <br /> material incorporates the Ch. 70 state aid estimates included in the Governor's budget, and that while <br /> there is no change to the total proposed budget,there are changes to member town assessments. He <br /> further explained that the town assessments were changed to amend the required minimum contribution as <br /> established in the Ch. 70 formula, and that in the debt and capital assessment,the FY 18 foundation <br /> enrollment and combined effort yield has been updated as part of the capital assessment formula. The <br /> member from Belmont asked for clarification on what prompted the jump in assessments for Acton and <br /> Lancaster, and Mr. Mahoney further explained the minimum contribution amendment. In response to a <br /> request for an updated table for pg. 35 of the budget book that School Committee members received,Mr. <br /> Mahoney noted that the book will be revised and sent out to School Committee members,posted on the <br /> website, and sent to the towns.
