• Katie O'Hare Gibson
• Carrie Klemovitch
• Lisa
• Beth
• Chris—absent
Motion passes
Improvement Plan Discussion
Katie and Chris repot out:
o Working across the whole system and trying not to be different
• Math Pilot
• Phonics pilot—teachers have been putting this in over time, but the literacy
department felt it was time to ensure "scope in sequence" essentially a schedule
of what can be included to ensure consistency across all grade levels.
• Teachers are very engaged in these pilots, they are going on in real time now,
and the decisions on what to do with the pilot data will inform decisions over the
summer.
• Intervention teams—and how we deliver intervention. District wide push for a
universal design. Work in an RTI model —pyramid tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3. The
move to this type of model highlights the need and goal of equity for all students
—what they need and when they need it. The specifics will be continued to be
talked about and mapped —the vagueness of this topic is needed as
conversations/decisions continue to evolve.
• Two Main Goals in this process that the district is committed to:
1) looking at trying to center those at the margins and
2)multi-tiered system of support and close any achievement gaps
o Question from Dan —when you imagine kids need additional impact is this due to COVID
impact or is this unrelated and looking to change the paradigm.
• Chris: Not necessarily influence due to pandemic. This is the system that we had
in our school to ensure catching all students—don't want kids to fall though the
"cracks"—school always wants to look at its practices in regards to this need for
learning and intervention hence why this district wide planning is critical and
possible this new way of thinking:
e Principals looking at district accommodation plan —best practices for all
teachers via a webpage to show/communicate what we already have, so
we do not go on new things and leave behind what we already have. This
documentation is critical for teacher access. This is one mindset to
universal design —a core part of the plan.
