113 <br /> III . RECREATION <br /> The Recreation Committee met with the Committee to <br /> discuss the following requests : <br /> 1. Ball Lighting - $35,000 <br /> 2. Old "Res" - 55, 000 <br /> 3. Neighborhood Playground Improvements - $3, 000 <br /> 4. Bike Paths - $7 ,000 <br /> 5. Tennis Program - $50,000 <br /> 6 . New Projects - $5,000 <br /> Ball Lighting <br /> This would be a two phase program as it is much too <br /> costly to be done all at once . Lamps will be protected <br /> against vandelism with a screen covering. After intial <br /> cost this will be a self supporting project according <br /> to the Committee . There have been several groups very <br /> interested in setting up night ball playing. The whole <br /> two phase program will cost approximately $100,000. <br /> Old "Res" <br /> 1. permanent bath house , <br /> 2. provide more picnic area, <br /> 3. bath house . <br /> Mr. Furash asked Mr. Bertini to furnish him with the <br /> following information: <br /> a. detail on "users satisfaction" , <br /> b. frequency of users , <br /> c . how many people would benefit per <br /> dollars spent. <br /> Mr. Perry asked Mr. Bertini about the trailer at the <br /> Town Pool - was it ever placed there? this question <br /> went unanswered! <br /> Playground <br /> Updating Harrington and Garfield. <br /> Bike Paths <br /> This project was started 3 years ago Yr. Busa stated. <br /> Mr. Isenberg was quoted as saying that they can only <br /> do a quarter of a mile per year with the funds available <br /> and at this rate it will take 40 years to complete. <br /> It is also necessary to provide some area for motor <br /> bikes , i.e . , Hartwell Ave. All that is necessary here , <br /> Mr. Isenberg said, would be a small amount of money for <br /> fencing. <br /> Tennis <br /> Last year the old courts were reconstructed Mr. Wertheim <br /> stated. However, due to the increase of interest in this <br /> sport I feel some new courts are in order. $11, 000 per <br /> court - $55,000 total . An indication of Town interest <br />
