113 III . RECREATION The Recreation Committee met with the Committee to discuss the following requests : 1. Ball Lighting - $35,000 2. Old "Res" - 55, 000 3. Neighborhood Playground Improvements - $3, 000 4. Bike Paths - $7 ,000 5. Tennis Program - $50,000 6 . New Projects - $5,000 Ball Lighting This would be a two phase program as it is much too costly to be done all at once . Lamps will be protected against vandelism with a screen covering. After intial cost this will be a self supporting project according to the Committee . There have been several groups very interested in setting up night ball playing. The whole two phase program will cost approximately $100,000. Old "Res" 1. permanent bath house , 2. provide more picnic area, 3. bath house . Mr. Furash asked Mr. Bertini to furnish him with the following information: a. detail on "users satisfaction" , b. frequency of users , c . how many people would benefit per dollars spent. Mr. Perry asked Mr. Bertini about the trailer at the Town Pool - was it ever placed there? this question went unanswered! Playground Updating Harrington and Garfield. Mr. Isenberg was quoted as saying that they can only do a quarter of a mile per year with the funds available and at this rate it will take 40 years to complete. It is also necessary to provide some area for motor bikes , i.e . , Hartwell Ave. All that is necessary here , Mr. Isenberg said, would be a small amount of money for fencing. Tennis Last year the old courts were reconstructed Mr. Wertheim stated.
